SimCopter is a game from 1996 made by Maxis known for The Sims series and Spore. The gameplay involves flying a helicopter in cities. The goal is to complete the different assignments recived like stopping criminals and saving people. The player can also exit the helicopter and walk around.
Money and points are awarded for completing assignments. They can be used for upgrades and advancing levels.
There's also a radio in the helicopter with different channels, very similar to Grand Theft Auto (just without mature jokes).
Random fact: Taking a dog into the helicopter magically turns it human!
Isn't this the one where a certain member of the dev team programmed gay kissing couples into the game if you played it on a certain date? I seem to remember an old, old PCGamer article about it.
that game was fucking weird. There's a code that makes you turn into a dog and scale any wall you walk into when you hold down shift. You can also cause a nuclear meltdown by setting a nuclear power plant on fire.
I wish Maxis would make their non-SimCity more like this and less like Spore. Simcopter hasn't aged well, but a modernized version could be great if done right.
Although it would probably be very hard to modernize the level editing.

It is. That guy was fired, by the way.
I remember this game. You could fly an Apache and shoot down UFOs for money. Also, spamming announcements at City Hall would make someone come out and shoot you.
Good times.
I loved this game, too bad I was shit at it.
Sounds fun but I've never heard of it.
I remember playing this all the time.

I found a good review about this game :v:
I liked picking up injured people, flying up really high, and dropping them out of the chopper.

I've seen the UFO abduct people.
Also SimCopter's idea of a "riot" is a bunch of people standing on the side of a road and performing a strange dance while setting themselves on fire. Seriously.
I loved this game when I was younger. What I'd do is be an evil guy. I'd drop people out of my helicopter, pick them back up all wounded and stuff then I'd cause a huge car crash with the helicopter's bucket and throw the wounded people into the fire.
Good times.
Well when I wasn't being evil the missions were nice too.
Also fuck you guys for criticizing this game. It's awesome. :3:
I liked dragging buckets of water across the crowded roads.
Omg i played this it was sooooo fun at the time, but all i remember was crashing in really fun ways :P
One awesome thing was being able to import your simcity 2000 saves and fly around your megacity.
I fucking loved this game. Especially wiping out the whole city by taking an Apache and shooting the nuclear power plant.
I bought it in the 6 pack with Streets of Sim City, Sim City, Sim Tower, Sim Safari, and some other game that I never played.
Holy fuckballs, this brings back memories.
Sittin' on my butt on weekends with my MO FUCKIN' PENTIUM 2 playing the SHIT out of this game. I remember I saved up to get the second-best helicopter...
....
And than my save file became corrupted. FML.
Also, "Ride of the Valkyries" for the win.
Wow, I used to play this a whole lot.
Helicopters are cool.
This game looked good for it's age.
This game was the shit.
I always used to swoop down and smash into cars and set them on fire, then put them out with the water bucket.
Also I remember getting really pissed off because I got stuck walking around on a solar power plant and couldn't get to my helicopter.

I always listened to the classical radio stations too. :)

how tolerant
Never played it, or heard of it til now.
Also the ability to import your cities from Sim City 2000 was killer!
Haha, I loved this game even though I never really played it, I just flew around my Sim City 2000 cities!
Oh wow, The memories.
Awwww yeah
