• Steam chat scammers are getting serious.

I just got an incoming chat request. I was all excited because I knew it was gonna be a hacker, so I could troll him. Sadly it went like this:
12.27 - ~TRA~ ~CreepieMen~: http://www.*******.phpnet.us/ (link removed) Free Battelfiled : bad company 2 ONLY today !!! 12.27 - Tera: hi how do i get that 12.28 - Tera: hello?
Well, after he stopped answering I decided I'd check out the site to see if it was the same thing as always. I was amazed. Apparently, they are getting serious: When you open the website you get this page: a full blown store page, with even working video. Very convincing! Oh look at the price, it's free! What a great chance, I'm not gonna waste it! Ah, I have to login. Well not a big deal.. Hmm, I think I've inserted the right data, why does it say it's incorrect? So yeah they got pretty serious now.. Many more people might fall for that. Also the fact that they've replaced the blank page with a page saying "Incorrect link" might make them get even more correct account names and passwords.
But isnt this the old steam page?
There's no such thing as free games.

Scammers always made pages like that, otherwise not even 10 year olds with downs syndrome would fall for it
I know 2 people IRL who have fallen for this :smithicide:
Scammers always made pages like that, otherwise not even 10 year olds with downs syndrome would fall for it
It's very easy for a person to make a scam page too. All they do is copy and paste the page source.
Nice try, but instead of "ADD TO CART" it should say "INSTALL"
Scammers have been doing that since forever.
This. They get a bit tricky in that once you actually input your credentials you get redirected to the ACTUAL steam store page to login so it looks like it didn't register the first time.
Seems like a standard phishing site.
