So I was at the GameStop in the local mall today and I was looking at Metro 2033 for PC. I inadvertantly opened the case without noticing. I was about to put it back when I noticed it was open.
Inside the case was the user's manual along with CD key
I mean, goddamnit Gamestop, don't you know how PC games work? You can't just leave the CD keys inside of games! I, in addition, found the CD keys to MW2, Mass Effect 2, Left 4 Dead 2, but all of which I brought up to the counter and handed to them warning not to let it happen.
I mean with this level of stupidity I'm sure they deserve to lose a few key codes.
Wow, that's stupid.
BRB, going to Gamestop. :ninja:
I agree.
(Goes to gamestop)
everyone knows they do this, alot of pople take pictures with their phones of the keys, and then bingo!
I'm tempted to go to GameStop right now
Thank you.
I wish I had GameStops in Canada.
We have "EB Games" though. I should check there.
I've seen it multiple times. They need to get their act together. Although the cases are only display copies anyway.

EB is Gamstop. Although I feel like you already knew that.
almost all video game sale stores do this, check a display case next time you go.

I thought they were similar, but I didn't know they were the same thing. Why the name change?
That's nothing. The one near me has an entire bin outside the store. Admittedly, it's only PS2 and XBox1 games, but still, I think they just want to get rid of them any way they can, whether they get paid or not.

1: Put EBgames and Gamestop next to each other in mall
2: Compete with self
3: Profit

at least, that's what I think
They were two separate companies, but then gamestop bought eb.

They changed all the EB Games to Gamestop here last year.

The EB Games across the street from GameStop in the town near me got renamed to Gamestop, and stayed in business for another year before getting shut down.
It was even better with the old games
Blue shift cover had the cd-key on the outside (same for some version of half life 1 and opposing force). Free All half life 1 games was easy. Ebay -> Blueshift (or Opposing force) -> enter in steam -> Profit
Atleast GAME Hands you the CD Key over the cover :ninja:
back when Circuit City was still around they had this promotion where you buy Farcry 2 and you get Farcry 1 for free via steam.
they put the Farcry 1 CD key on a folded up stick ON the box.
i peeled it of and there was the CD key.
I heard that you can legally download Farcry 1 for free so i took a picture of the key and used it on steam and it worked. so i guess i didn't really steal anything:ninja:
Thats why the gamestops in my area don't buy or sell used pc games anymore.
My Gamestop store have all of the game covers sealed with plastic, unless they are from the backrooms.
My gamestop has a used pc MW2 disc.
Do people still buy PC disk games? I buy all my PC games via digital download now
this is cool and all getting cd keys for free, but it really sucks when your the one that buys the game only to find out that the key is already in use.

Thats almost true in the mall in my town, EB Games is downstairs next to the food court, while Gamestop is right above it on the second floor.

Not really, you go back and get a new one.
my phone has a shit camera :saddowns:

Game is shit, it's all console supremacy there, only one small corner in every fucking store I've been too, while EB gets a whole wall.
My EB and Gamestop dont even fucking have a PC section anymore. Its all console shit.
just use steam

or play.com

I have to agree that the PC section at GAME is...horrible, although I wouldn't say GAME on the whole is shit (that might just be because I'm a console gamer and they have a pretty good range of console games where I live).
They do really need a larger PC section. The ones at the GAME where I am are nearly non-existent.
Open the case, copy the key to your phone and text it to yourself.
