The Omega Concern: Making Second Life less shitty.

Second Life is a social program that runs entirely on user-created content. However, it is known to be CPU-intensive, has poor graphics by today's standards, and the content never really is that great. The standard combat system leaves a lot to be desired. The build quality of weapons and vehicles in Second Life is usually crap. Combine with that all the furries walking around with sculptie dog cocks, and other games do start to look really good.

However, if you know the right places and people, SL can become addictive and fun.

I recently discovered a company in SL that made some really, REALLY good military-themed stuff. It makes almost everything else in Second Life look like total shit. Here are some pictures of my favorite of those products in action.

The owner of the store that sells this stuff, a friend of mine, has also made, among other things, a series of antipersonnel and antitank mines, a stinger to take down helicopters, and AT4 to use against tanks, lots of different kinds of firearms, including a sniper rifle with a range-dial option that simulates bullet drop and wind deflection, a mounted M2 HB with a barrel that'll overheat if you're not careful, and my favorite, a Sig 556 with an attached laser designator that actually makes an X-47B UAV drone fly in overhead and drop a two thousand pound Paveway JDAM on your target.
