Why doesn't Steam add some kind of achievement system? - Games

Originally it was just the xbox 360, and now the PS3, but when is Steam gonna catch up? I know Garry's Mod has achievements but they aren't added into any kind of grand point system that is viewed on everyone's page. As far as I know, achievements and trophies are the same on all games. (What I mean is that xbox 360 GTA 4 (for example) has 50 achievements and PS3 has 50 trophies. Correct me if I'm wrong though.) Why doesn't Steam just add the same ones for PC games? Discuss.

If you're talking about the stupid-ass broken points system, that's a terrible idea.

I wonder if an actual achievement system for steam would work. Like certain things will earn you a badge or something for your profile page. Some quick examples: - Buy your first steam game - Purchase 10 games - Purchase 20 games (And so on) - Make 100 friends - Play 150 hours of games in 2 weeks - Own all Valve games I think it would be a decent system, but that's just me.

Actually HL2 and Episode 1 have achievements (open them in the achievements manager) but they don't show up on steam. AKA locked.

It would be awesome, if Garry somehow managed to code ratings so that when your box someone, it sends an order to UPS and UPS sends an actual box to the one who got rated box.
