Hopefully we'll see more awesome PS2 games getting re-released soon.

I think a major motivation behind this was the ps3 slim losing backwards compatibility, not merely the fans asking for it.
Just release MGS 1 on the EU PS-store and I'll be happy.

As someone who never beat God of War I or played God of War II...cool.

It's cool because God of War graphics already look next gen, they don't even need improvements.

Not really though it certainly looked great for a ps2 game. This won't look a whole lot better unless they upped the texture resolution.
I can already run my copy of the game in 720p, actually much higher with the PS2 emulator PCSX2. It looks a little better.

fyi: no PS3 SKU since the MGS4 80GB bundle has had backward compatibility
As a guy that played through and completely dominated both games (I really want a port for CoO), I highly suggest any ps3 owner add these gems to their libraries. You say you want something epic? Look no further.

that actually looks pretty bad, mostly the HUD and the fact that it looks like it's being stretched. you can't compare that to something with no media released. they're probably going to revamp the textures and such. in fact that'd make more sense, the PS3 could run a PS2 game (if coded for the PS3) at full 1080p with AA, so why else would these be at 720p?

when it released, maybe, but not as good as XBox games at the time, and the framerate was quite piss poor.
