I think it will be randomized for every game, they were especially hinting at that ,with their blog post with those black sillhuetes of the l4d 1 survivors, which changed what survivors were seen every now and then.

Groups were around for what? A month? Custom Forums you mean surely.
Subforums were fine when they were actual subforums of the Video Games section and you didn't have to go the index page and then to the specific game. Now if you go there you have to be pretty dedicated to whatever game happens to have been released in the past 15 minutes instead of popping in now and then during general games browsing.
