Looking for a free animal crossing-esque game for the PC
32 replies, posted
My friend has a Wii with Animal Crossing: City Folk, and it looks entertaining. Only problem is that I don't have a Wii.
So I'm looking for a game that's free and similar to animal crossing, to kill time whenever I'm bored.
I did search, but I couldn't find anything.
Dwarf Fortress :v:
Ah, DF. Already know about that one. Any others?
I think Animal Crossing is available on more than the wii..
Well Animal Crossing is a "collect random shit" simulator. I guess the sims could work just as well if you don't cheat

Animal Crossing Wild World is available on the Nintendo DS
Animal Crossing City Folk is available on the Wii

More like debt simulator.
Ladies and Gentlemen: This is why the Wii survives. The random shit that doesn't exist on any other platform.

Thanks for paying off the morgage on your house! Would you like to expand your house? No? Don't be so modest, of course you want a bigger house!
FUCK YOU TOM NOOK.
Tom Nook is the biggest dick in gaming history.
No, Tom Nook is evil.

Amazing story.
Use an emulator (project64 is a good one) and run the nintendo 64 version of it. I'd post a link to the rom but thats warez, but it does exist. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z96ZyLAU3RI (proof)

Also, ENOUGH WITH THE FREE GAMES THREADS. LIFE AIN'T FREE. Besides, I don't think you can find a game like Animal Crossing on anywhere but Nintendo systems. (Of course.)

He's better off downloading Dolphin and emulating the Gamecube or Wii version of Animal Crossing.

If only there were actual games with story lines like that.

There are many good free games, and many new come every year.
Free games are not about being cheap, but usually bout that developer does it for fun.
I actually do wish there were more games like Animal Crossing, where you get to collect tons of random shit to decorate your house. Even in terms of non-free games, there aren't a lot.
The Sims is different because there aren't any rare items. Some stuff is more expensive, but you have a magical furniture-producer that gives you whatever you want as long as you have the money.
The closest games I've played with a similar concept are Oblivion and Fallout 3. They don't really intend for you to furnish your home with all the weird random shit you find, but I always do it anyway. In a way, it's more customizable than AC, but in a way it's more restricted because most of the games' items are intended to be used as something other than furniture.
Still, that doesn't stop me from keeping a basket full of jewels in my Oblivion house, along with a bed covered with quivers of various types of arrows and Mankar Camoran's robes, and it doesn't stop me from collecting every pool ball I find in Fallout 3 to place on a shelf, next to the huge pile of money I have stacked on the table, and the fat man with all its nukes placed neatly nearby for a boring rainy day when I feel like rocking the shit out of the world.
All I can say is... Maybe Elona, but it's a pretty hard-to-understand game, and there's a limit to the number of items you can drop in your house, and the Engrish and odd graphics kind of make hoarding stuff in your house less fun than in AC, Oblivion, and Fallout 3.
Still though, if anybody else knows of a game like Animal Crossing (free or not) I want to get in on it too.
