Good evening fine gentlemen, I will be playing this fine game. I hope this is in the right section. However I am curious to see what you fine individuals would do in my situation. (Or better yet troll me and cause my country to be destroyed and raped several times over by neighbours.) What is Europa Universalis 2? Also there are various other events that happen. Firstly I will be playing the 1418 campaign until whenever the thread dies, I get bored or the nation ends. So the first thing is for you to choose a nation for me, meanwhile here I am at the campaign menu. I chose Europe because that's where most of the shit happens. After one/some/many replies I will choose that nation and start playing, providing screenshots, summaries and other important shit. (You get to control finances, wars, etc)

Russia it is! I Chose Novgorod, since Russia doesn't actually exist and consists of a number of states and lands owned by other nations. This can be edited every 10 game years, with liberal stuff generally getting you more tech and money, and conservative stuff generally getting you easier control over your country. [img]http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/2095/eu22010121500365766.jpg[/img] The nations budget, currently we do not have a navy, and our army consists of a rather meagre 10,000 infantry and 2000 cavalry. Land tech is land military. Navy is Navy. Stability affects the chance of revolt and tax incomes. Trade affects how much money our merchants get from trade whilst infrastructure usually increases money from taxation and production. Now what, the middle ages is nearly over, the great schism ended and a bunch of Portugese people settled the Canaries. I also have merchants and diplomats at my disposal along with a trade centre giving me some extra cash. You tell me stuff to do btw.

Take Finland, and become a total Aristocracy. I like that more.

Okay chaps, I got an army ready to invade Sweden, but I lacked a casus belli and more importantly this just happened. If I invaded Sweden my nation would most likely be steam-rolled. I had to act quickly to stop the enemy. (Land, navy, trade, infrastructure, stability or money) What to do now, I beat them off and still retain all my land. Should I have a primarily defensive war or offensive one?

Since it`s war, I suggest you continue expanding your army.

Worse still I have little monetary supplies left, a shitty infrastructure and my two main cities are under a heavy siege.

Nobody fucked with the national budget yet, another reform can be made in 8 years and we beat off some of the enemy armies along with advancing to Land technology 1 and infrastructure 1. However my nation has no money left, a meagre army to defend it and things are not going too well. I tried to swap maps with Portugal which failed, but I managed to expand my colony in Kola to a reasonable size. Should I keep a firm grip on those lands and develop up the economy a little I can then go to war with the bastard states and take them out one by one.

Play EU III instead of this.

I too am wondering why you're not playing EU3. I hear 2 is very different but surely it's massively inferior by this point? Invest everything in military. Invade Ryazan. Fuck the populace, what we need is land! Also the thread's slow because the Games in Progress section is a barren wasteland. They allowed Hearts of Iron AARs in GGD so this would probably fit there. Facepunch is lacking in Let's Plays apart from the sporadic X-COM one.

Probably the same reason why people are playing Hearts of Iron 2 instead of 3.

Except EU3 runs just as well as Hearts of Iron 2, Hearts of Iron 3 and to a lesser extent Victoria 2 ran badly on the same computers that did fine/very well with EU3/HoI2/Ricky/CK Unless EU2 is running badly for him too.

[img]http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/8862/eu22010122122103817.jpg[/img] I finally got my land back, it wasn't easy but I finally got it back and now I can begin to get colonists and restart my trade. With a yearly census tax of 15 ducats to spend on shit I will find it difficult to pay for a tax collector there because I am late on my loan and the banker promises to break my legs. [img]http://img813.imageshack.us/img813/9443/eu22010122122115273.jpg[/img] Here is a graph of my economy (How much money I am making) since the start of the game. You may like to note that just after I finished the war my economy has went more successfully. However I am still rather poor, barely scraping enough money to raise and maintain a army in case of war and if I save up rather than go to war I can repay the loan and start going from the red and into the black. However (It is now Feb 1427) Moscow conquered Tver and it has gone to war with Pskov. Should I invade Pskov again before Moscow does then I can sieze a nice piece of valuable land. However it will use up money otherwise spent on other things that could lead to a gradual improvement of my economy. I have no allies at the moment, save for allowing the Baltic nations military access through to attack other countries in the area. No maps or anything means I cannot set up any colonies or explore the new world due to a lack of ports to resupply at or any explorers. My best hope at the moment is to strengthen my position here and try to become stronger than Moscow. Once I achieve that I have little colonial prospects west due to limited sea access, but Siberia looks tempting. Oh well thread died.
