Editing Fire Red to be more fun and diverse.
So, what do you think needed fixing about these games?
-Change wild pokemon rates (catch a wild squirtle 1 time in 1000!)
-Change pokemon species statistics (fuck you, machoke, evolve at level 36 from now on)
-Change map layouts (including trainer events - no more rockets with koffing)
-Change starting pokemon (top percentage rattata!)
Requests, go!
Edit:
Doing now list:
-Making all Gen I pokemon catchable in the wild (including starters - and legendaries?)
-Making the cooler Gen II pokemon catchable in the wild
-Changing gym leader battles to be more challenging
-Changing trainer encounters to be more varied and challenging (go rattata!)
-Adding rematches for gym leaders
To do list:
-Decide on a set of starters
-Dratini/Onix/Vulpix
-Bellsprout/Poliwag/Growlithe
-Shroomish/Slowpoke/Houndour (?)
-Machop/Umbreon/Abra
-Pidgey/Rattata/Geodude
-Pikachu/Eevee/Larvitar (My personal favourite)
Need to know how to:
-Change rarity of individual species encounters.
-Change stats of pokemon held by specific trainers (Surge's Raichu, Misty's Starmie etc.).
Thinking of calling it Pokemon: Sea Blue version, if I ever get around to changing the title screen.

Can do!
On a serious note: What starter triplet would be interesting? Could stick with fire/water/grass or try something like flying/grass/rock? Dark/psychic/fighting?
start gary off with a magikarp
-snip-
I'd say start off with either a rattata, pidgey, or a geodude. Make pokemon types in in the starting areas different, like finding a pikachu or a poliwhirl near Pallet Town if doing Fire Red, etc.

In that case should I change Brock's lineup? Getting past rock with those guys would be a bitch. I was thinking about Abra/Machop/Umbreon, with Kadabra nerfed a bit. Found some type triangles as well if anyone's interested (most people probably already know these off by heart):
Fire-->Grass-->Water
Dark-->Psychic-->Fighting
Steel-->Ice-->Ground
Electric-->Water-->Ground (whoa whoa whoa, electric doesn't do shit to ground at all!)
Fire-->Ice-->Ground

Also do any pokemon in particular need to be nerfed/buffed?
Have the ability to start with Dratini.
Change the gym leader's line up, but obviously keep them the same type.
and I like the sound of Dark->Psychic->Fighting, sounds like it would be alot of fun.
Make it so you don't need to trade Pokemon to make them evolve. And all Pokemon are available regardless of game colour.
Okay, here's the starters at the moment:
1) Dratini (Easy mode) - Rival chooses Vulpix
2) Onix (Moderate) - Rival chooses Dratini
3) Vulpix (Nightmare) - Rival chooses Onix

Doing this now.
Darkrai in HG/SS for a starter plez? :D

Can't do anything past GBA, man. Sorry.
Make Missingno the strongest pokemon ever!
Give the Magikarp the stats of Dratini.
There was a hacked rom (sapphire I think) with all 250 pokemon put into it, maybe you can use that as your base? It's great as it is, maybe you can improve it even more? PM me if you cannot find it online.
Haha, this is fun! I've added a bunch of pokemon on route 1, growlithe, spearow, bellsprout, taillow, meowth, ekans, venonat, caterpie, paras, weedle. Growlithes only appear levels 8-10, so you better run if one catches you.

Brock now has a Cubone instead of his Geodude
Dratini is green?!
Make Eevee catchable but rare. Only being able to get one made me sad.
I wanna red Gyardos.

I think that's the effect of tail whip being played.
I'm not too fond of the starters, I would have thought
Psychic/Dark/Fighting would have been better as it keeps to the rock/paper/scissors type theme they've had since the start. After all Onyx is hardly difficult the minute you get a grass pokemon.
Ideally you want them to all be three stage pokemon but unfortunately no such dark types exist. Maybe two stage,
Natu/Murkrow/Machop ? Machop's ability to evolve into a Machamp would be offset by the slight flying type advantage the other two have?
Or if you went with the original style it could be
Magby/Poliwag/Oddish ? All three stage with good potential.

I'm just dicking around getting used to it. I'll settle on Psychic/Dark/Fighting as soon as someone suggests a good set of those type starters.
3 magikarps as starter pokemon.
One normal, one shiny and one at lv 99 with splash.
Dammit! Reading this thread made me want to dig up my old Gameboy, and start playing these games again. Those were the days... I don't exactly like what they are doing to the new games they are making for this classic old series, though. I mean, over 400 Pokemon now? Thats a bit excessive, though it does add nice variety, most of those "new" Pokemon are virtually just re-skinned versions of the old ones. And theres about, what? 20 "legendary" Pokemon? You could have a whole party of the legendary, and still have another party and a half in your PC. Legendary ones are supposed to be just that--legendary-- not found scattered around the world like fucking candy. Basically, what I'm saying is to many new Pokemon, many of which are just the same as the old ones with new looks, and way to many new legendary.
Also, would it be possible to make a new item that could "de-evoultionize" your Pokemon? By that I mean make them go back to their previous, un-evolved state. Could make for an interesting concept, though I'm not sure who would use it.

>You used THUNDERSTONE.
>PIKACHU evolved into RAICHU!
>OH GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE
[editline]06:15PM[/editline]
but yeah, it seems possible.
what I think would be really awesome is a Pokemon rom hack in which you can catch ALL of the pokemon without trading, there has been one already released but if you can make one with things like different gyms, more trainer etc. I think it would be awesome
You should learn how to make new pokemon, it'd be awesome.
You should learn how to make new Pokemon, it'd be awesome.
So long as they are original, or as original as possible. And if you must, no legendary, please. And no creating "new evolutions" of old Pokemon. If Pickachu was in the (insert name of the first region from the first game here since I don't remember it) region, way wasn't its pre-evolved form, Pichu? Adding new evolutions to old Pokemon is just milking a dead cow, so to speak.
they should make pokemon open platform
I'm not going to make any pokemon myself. They'd be retarded looking.
I'll keep working on this and update the thread periodically.
Keep throwing out your ideas! :buddy:
