Well I was snooping around IGN for the last couple of days when I heard a rumor of a new MechWarrior game. They confirmed that the news was real and I am damn happy.

There are a few gameplay videos in the link and some pictures as well. I stopped playing MechWarrior because the graphics sucked so badly (but with modern technology almost everything looks pretty graphic-wise). At the end of the gameplay video the mech pilot ejects, does this game involve some sort of on-foot gameplay? Maybe a new gameplay system, something similar to Battlefield?
This is one of my favorite games from when I was growing up. Hopefully they add some new gameplay elements, mechs, weapons, etc. This game is supposed to have a story mode and multiplayer mode, and most likely mech customization mode. This game is a full reboot of the series and it's being produced for PC and 360 (hopefully PS3 too).
If it's a sequel to Mechwarrior or Mechcommander I'll convert to whatever god those guys want me to.
If it's a sequel to MechAssault, however... I'll be happy... but less happy than the former...
Remove the damn elementals seriously one more time taking over my mech and i will bash your head in with an alpha strike
YES YES YES YES
fuck yes
Wait, new MechWarrior? And not Mech Assault? HELL YES

Holy titfuck the trailer is awesome.
New Mechwarrior! I came :D
God, I love the Mechwarrior series, I'd go play MW4 right now, but my rig's PSU is on the fritz.
Don't forget about this: http://mechlivinglegends.net/
Surely everyone knows by now?
If it's not a mech sim then I'm not getting it.
Holy fucking shit on a stick, that looks fantastic.

Confirmed, it is in the same sim-style as the older ones. Fucking sweet.
Not finding any gameplay videos though. Link?
Fucking hell.
It's about damn time we got a new MechWarrior.
YESSSSSSSSSSS.
Ironically, I just reinstalled Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries before hearing this news.

i'd buy a new joystick just to play this
I hope this goes on the right path instead of the path Chrome Hounds took.
Fantastic.
Hopefully it's less arcade-y that the MechAssault games. I don't want it to be a full blown mech sim though, there are already games out that do that.
Fuck yes. I still have my MechWarrior 2 for Win95 in the original packaging. This is a dream come true for me.

Like what? I'm actually hoping it's a full blown mech sim.

Mechwarrior Devs present their new controller:

I'm a dev for Mechwarrior: Living Legends and I can say this announcement and trailer footage basically makes me feel like I've been rickrolled without the rick astley :v:
Looks interesting though. Personally though the trailer felt like it was very mech-assaulty to me except in first person. Sure it looked cool (I can garuntee that isn't what it will play out/look like in-game though, the entire trailer is highly scripted and they just used the engine to play it out), but the first person combat didn't feel or look like the classic sim we all know and love.

yep me too

The old mechwarrior games already did that with it's sim elements. They seem to forget that back in 1999 when MW3 came out, it's graphics were state of the art then. I got the feeling from the interview that they don't understand that the graphics are not what really makes mechwarrior feel truely like you are in control of a mech, it's the simulation and gameplay aspect of it, managing your heat/coolant levels, finding the right times to use jumpjet thrusters, etc.
And instead in the interview they say Mechassault happened because "it wasn't possible to have a pretty PPC head shader refraction effect on the HUD on the hardware back then which is why we're able to do mechwarrior now for the 360".... what?
Okay I know that wasn't a direct quote but he pretty much said the same thing.
I'm certainly glad they're making a new one.
To this day, whenever I think of a weapon from a video game, my head jumps straight to "Clan ER PPC".
Here's the quote I'm talking about:
The MechAssault games were interesting in the role they played inside the universe for the consoles at the time, but we feel the technology is there that we can make a true MechWarrior game, a MechWarrior experience on both the Xbox 360 and the PC and not lose anything from that true MechWarrior feeling.
....
In the video, it may not be there yet, but when the PPCs are fired off inside the Warhammer, we've got a pixel shader of an actual heat shimmer inside the cockpit. Whenever you've read about those weapons in the books, it's always been described as a heat wave that hits that cockpit when those weapons are fired and all the heat starts to build up in the mechs. We're at a point now where we can introduce some of that visually, so maybe there is a small impediment to your vision as the heat is rising in your cockpit so not only are you running really hot, but it might be just a little harder to target or shoot the other mechs.
Pixel shaders are nice but that's not what made Mechwarrior a MW game, as proof of MW1-4, which were made when pixel shaders were practically non-exsistant.
Holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck holy fuck.
That's al- no wait
HOly fucK!
I absolutely cannot wait. If that was in-game footage too, then I will cream myself. Imagine if it supported TrackIR too?
What's the point of an ejection system if you just land in a nuke?
Oh my fucking god! I LOVE MechWarrior, not so much those Xbox ones but MechWarrior 2, 3, and 4 + all expansions are the ones I played. This made me cum uncontrollably. I will spend any amount of money on that game.
And KorJax, I would say it is hard to judge the game by a first premier trailer. Most importantly is how it feels in your hands when you are playing it. I'm sure they made the trailer look as flashy as they can to make it looks as good as they can. You have to remember, Smith & Tinker is founded by the original creator of MechWarrior, I think he, of all people, will make sure it will be what we want.
Also I hope they include all of the Mechs in MW4.
Awww, it's also for 360. I really hope they don't try to dumb it down for those console people. I mean you need a lot of buttons for your Mech, in MW4 I used my whole keyboard. I mean how many hardcore games go to consoles?
What's the point of an ejection system if you just land in a nuke?
I was wondering that myself lol.
Yeah, they really need to tone down the explosion on 'mech death. And I thought the pilots were ejected in pods, anyway?
Guys, remember, they hardly did any work on it yet. They only started thinking about this in October. This is just a prototype thing they whipped up to show what they wanna shoot for.
On a side note, I hope they make the movement system like MW4, where you have to accelerate and stuff. Not stupid console arcadey shit where you can go forward, instantly stop and run backward.
