• Xbox Kinect - Who's getting one and what games look best to you?

I've always been interested in state of the art technology and Microsoft brings some of that home with the new Xbox Kinect. With the Kinect you can do more than just game, you can control the entire Xbox as you would with a regular controller. It can also act as a Webcam for video chats with friends and family and does not need to be recharged! I've watched some videos reviewing the games released with it as well as the device itself and I'm more inclined now than ever to get myself one. Only problem being my monetary situation. College and living is expensive. With that said I was considering getting a new DSi or a Wii to add to my next gen collection, but now I feel the Kinect is a better choice as it does more than game. Personally I want to get Dance Central because it's the only game I see currently that I'm interested in. That and fitness. And I'm curious on what you want to get with it if you want to it at all. Kinect doesn't care about black people
Was excited for it til I saw the PS Move. Now I have the Move I am certain I made the correct choice.
A better question would be who's not getting the Kinect.
Was excited for it til I saw the PS Move. Now I have the Move I am certain I made the correct choice.
Can you explain why you do not want the Kinect? We all have our opinions, I'm just curious as to what yours or anyone else's may be.

Kiinneeeeccctttt <3 I love full-body motion games.
Looks pretty dumb to me.
Can you explain why you do not want the Kinect? If you want to play a sports game for example like that Kinect Sports, the PS Move does it a lot better and probably more accurate too. Just not my cup of tea, would rather have the Move, even though I admit the games are limited at the moment but it has more potential.
But the EyeToy came out like five years ago. Also, you sound like a marketer.
The Eye Toy does not provide nearly as much accuracy as the Kinect. The eye toy is simply, just a webcam. The Kinect has infrared that helps it track where you are much better. Which is why I say it's state of the art, because it's not just a regular webcam. Making a program that tracks your movements with a camera is easy and glitchy. Making a program that tracks your movement through a camera and infrared lenses on the other hand provides much more accurate readings and calculations. As for me sounding like a marketer, I was trying to make my OP sound more professional and less like just another user posting about kinect. I also wanted to introduce some of the things it can do to those who aren't entirely familiar with it. If they want more information, everyone knows about google.
The only game I see working for this is party games like Kinect Adventures. Does not seem like it'll have a long life span. Kinda like the PSPgo
Kinect's future line-up looks like shit/doesn't exist. Until they come out with a definitive game on it that actually has a good story, original gameplay, and good production values, I might consider. For now, wii clones.
A better question would be who's not getting the Kinect.
Why would I get Kinect? I already have a Wii, and it's shit.

Wii is hand-only controlled, with a controller in ur hand, Kinect is free from controllers, and seems more precise then the Wii after all.
I've seen it and been able to try at a games convention close to me. It doesn't work as smooth as move(I've tried a couple of games for that as well, works really smooth), and the only game that doesn't make you look like a fool are the dancing games.
I'm not getting it because there's no controller. I imagine it being like a Wii, except with a lot less action and general fun.

I find that game would lose my interest the quickest out of all of the available titles. I also agree about Kinect Sports. It just doesn't look like fun. I mean yes it doesn't need a controller and the PS Move would need to incorperate itself flawlessly to be enjoyable but I think Kinect went down the wrong road with it's sport game. It is most definitely a Wii knock-off which pushes me away from it. I like Dance Central and Fitness because they both require you to make real movements. Dance Central requires real dance moves which is fun and in a way educational. Fitness requires you to actually work out which exercises the body much more effectively. And with the move just being released a few weeks ago, it's understandable that the titles would be limited. Remember the PS3 has no game? That changed a lot after the developers started migrating.
I do like the idea, but so far there doesn't seem to be any games other then dancing, fitness or sports.
Don't try to fix what isn't broken. AKA controllers.
Move would need to incorperate itself flawlessly to be enjoyable
That's the thing though, it does.
But the EyeToy came out like five years ago. Also, you sound like a marketer.
The eye toy is a piece of shit that can detect changes in background, that's about it. While there aren't many game possibilities right now, this is revolutionary technology that can really have some virtual reality applications in the future.

A discussion requires information and personal opinion. The combination of the two provide a means of communication rather than a "Get the kinect y/n?" or "Kinect games good?" or "Kinect sucks, get (insert other console here)"
I've always been interested in state of the art technology and Microsoft brings some of that home with the new Xbox Kinect.
It's a cheap, 150$ motion detector, far from "state of the art technology".
That's the thing though, it does.
I wouldn't know, but I trust you. I have seen videos of that as well. Having a PS3 I have neglected getting the Move though, I'm waiting for other games to come out which use it more.
kinect is retarded, Move is even dumber, if you buy either you're a douche and a retard
KINECTIMALS. I dare you to play that and not have a smile on your face. And you will pick the Black Panther Cub.
My main problem with Kinect is that it's a blatant Wii clone. Dance Central is just Lets Dance, Kinect Sports is Wii Sports and Your Shape Fitness Evolved is just Wii Fit. Kinectimals just looks plain retarded and Kinect Adventures looks awkward to play. And thats the entire line up.

At least Kinect tried to do something more than hand gestures. I'd get it but the launch titles look like crap.
Also, if I play Kinectimals can I punch and kick the animal? Like if I roundhouse kick the tiger in the face, does it register and act accordingly or not? These forcedly cheerful games just make me lust for blood more than anything. It would be pretty hilarious if you could, I could imagine screwing up for a friend when he goes to the bathroom and leaves the game on.
