• Which Is Better? Harmonix Guitar Hero or Neversoft Guitar Hero

I recently dusted off my copy of Guitar Hero 1 and 2 Double Pack. While playing it, it reminded me of when my friend brought the first and second game into my computer programming class in BOCES and experiencing it for the first time. Our teacher instantly bought a copy for herself the next day after playing it with us and told us how she was "rocking out to the songs she used to listen to when she was young", Thus creating my first memory of Guitar Hero ever. *Next few paragraphs are mixed with my opinion* The Harmonix series of Guitar Hero (Guitar Hero 1-2 and Rock The 80s) despite it being filled with covers done by WaveGroup, was fun to pick up and play for me. For those who have played Frequency and Amplitude (very good games, play them if you haven't before) will notice that the gameplay is somewhat similar, except slightly modified to "emulate" a guitar. The soundtrack is the usual rock songs (mostly classic rock) that some gamers would know along with a few obscure tunes. And hey, what is more fun than performing Star Power and watching your guitarist spin the guitar around the screen like a madman (or woman). The Neversoft series (Guitar Hero 3-Now) slightly modified the gameplay a little bit. I do not know how to describe it, it is something where you have to experience it yourself. The soundtrack is like stated above but with a few "newer" songs (to keep the kids happy). They gradually did away with doing cover songs and actually decided to use the actual songs (I know Guitar Hero 3 was mixed with some covers and some real tracks). New features like Create a Rockstar, online play, and Create a Song were added to the series as well. Out of these series of games, Guitar Hero 3 was the only one that was really memorable to me. Which one do you prefer? I gotta say the Harmonix series. I mean I prefer the gameplay over the Neversoft gameplay (again hard to describe) and also I believe that the cover songs made it seem like you were actually in the band and your singer had his own voice. What do you people think?
Harmonix was more about making fun music games. Neversoft was and is still making shovelware so Bobby Kotick can wipe his ass with hundred dollar bills.
The Rock Band buttons are easier to use.
Sadly, I have never bought a Harmonix Guitar Hero game. I got mad at them for not releasing Rock Band in Finland and then charging huge amounts of money for it, so I picked up a Neversoft equivalent instead. Something tells me that Harmonix games are better though.
Guitar Hero 1 and 2 where the best, wich leads us to the conclusion: Harmonix>Neversoft. Whenever Neversoft starts a game series they turn it into shit after a while... See Tony Hawk [editline]09:42PM[/editline] Also, The Beatles Rock Band.
None, I hate guitar hero.
I stopped playing Guitar Hero for awhile after playing "Smash Hits" and 5. I suppose that's another question to ask. How many of you have played "Smash Hits" and what was your reaction if you have? I simply didn't like it. But at the time my 2 original Guitar Hero games were MIA and this game was a hand-me-down so I couldn't complain.
Harmonix > Neversoft Neversoft just manages to shovel out shit game after shit game. I enjoyed the original Harmonix Guitar Hero games more than all this other bullshit.
none of you even play guitar hero or rock band legitly.
rock band owns

i like gh3 more than the harmonix gh's because of the longer timing window and that there aren't many cover songs, but RB 1&2 are way better than every guitar hero game combined.

It's still expanding. Works with both 1 and 2. There's really no reason to have another (main) Rock Band game unless a new console comes out.

even though the newest guitar hero games are shit, i still love GH 3, GH WT, and GH Metallica a lot more than GH1/2 or any Rock Band game voted neversoft
Harmonix obviously, since GH has been going downhill since Neversoft took over the series.
Guitar Hero II was my favorite. Guitar Hero III was where they started trying too hard to be cool.
My favorite memory of Guitar Hero 3 was when I was at a party with a few of my friends from college. The friend that held the party had a little brother that wanted to play "the new" Guitar Hero with us so we gave him the guitar. Switched it to expert and decided to play Raining Blood. He ended up hitting 98% of the notes and my friend ended up hitting him right in the head with a steel chair. Needless to say we left early......

Does anyone else make their own songs in the world tour studio?
None, there's too many of them.
I love Guitar Hero 3 it's my favourite in the series right now but I voted for Harmonix because I loved the cartoonish style of characters they did. Since Guitar Hero 3 characters are made more realistic and realistic and I don't really like it. It's good for band specific games but not for main games.
To be quite honest, I think GH3 nailed gameplay almost perfectly (although the hit windows are a tad too big) as far as guitar hero goes.
