I found this game on TPB, it had a pretty cool description so I downloaded it. I was blown away with the amount of fun this game can have, especially since it's supposedly being developed by just two guys. It's a really great sandbox game, that's reminiscent of minecraft/terraria except with stellar graphics. Eventhough, it is in early beta stage and has it's fair share of bugs, it's really damn fun. It's F2P, with micro-transactions, it isn't pay2win though, because the things you buy are cosmetic [sp]YEAH THATS RIGHT BITCH WE GOT HATS[/sp] They plan to release a bunch of content too, it looks pretty promising, here's some quotes from their website.
StarForge is a game about gathering resources, building bases, crafting anything you want, and surviving on an alien planet. Earth's star is dying and humanity transferred as much technology and resources as possible and left on a one way mission to populate another planet.StarForge was inspired by Halo, Warcraft 3, Borderlands, Terraria, and Minecraft. It borrows elements from the RTS, FPS, RPG, Voxel Builder, Tower Defense, and Physics Sandbox genres. We are building a dark and serious universe and want the player to live out their own unique story on the procedural planet. Tons of skins, Devices, Mutations, and cool Sandbox Items & Packs. We aim to release a new Hero every 1-2 months through the Alpha stages, then once every month in Beta and once the game is released then every 2-3 weeks.
Here's some background story of the whole game, in case you where wondering about a story.
During the years 2073-2253 Humanity enjoyed relative peace on earth and most funds were diverted to deep space exploration. Small bases were setup on the Moon and Mars. However a new problem soon emerged. Our star was dying. The estimates shown that within a thousand years the sun would die completely ensuring the extinction of humanity. To deal with this harsh reality, the nations of Earth created the New Space Initiative. Drones were sent to scan the every earthlike planet in existence and send imagery and sounds back to Earth. A planet was found and deemed habitable. They called it Atlas, due to their hopes that one day it would carry the Earth on its shoulders. At this time scientists discovered how to make objects travel at the speed of light. But Atlas was still too far away for a human to arrive in their lifetime. So for the next 1000 years Earth sent resources to this new planet in hopes of one day sending humans there. Every corporation on Earth was required to send massive amounts of equipment and weaponry. They were contained in huge freighters on a one way mission. Robots were also sent to seed the land with common trees, grasses, food, and shrubs. It was soon determined via drone imagery that some creatures would take these supplies, and other would burrow underground with them. So an additional blueprint database was setup to allow all human knowledge to be categorized and would allow for easy creation should man ever gather resources on the new planet. It was the dawn of the new millennium. There was a somber tone in the streets of every city on every corner of the Earth. Everyone was under the shadow of death and freezing temperatures. It would have been better to be maimed and thrown in the depths of the seas then live through these times. But then it came. The invention of warp drive. Allowing man to travel into the depths of space within an instant. In the year 3085 you leave. You have been chosen through a lottery system to leave Earth. Your only goal is to survive the new planet and ensure humanities survival.
More can be read here: http://www.starforge.com/lore.html GamePlay StarForge is a game about gathering resources, building bases, buying weapons, using strategy, and destroying your opponent’s bases to win the match. It is real time and set in a first or third person perspective. Set on an alien planet, the theme is high technology, mixed with old world building mechanics. Earth has been depleted and the humans transferred as much technology and resources as possible and left on a one way mission to populate another planet. They must forge a new star. StarForge was inspired by Halo, Warcraft 3, and Minecraft. It borrows elements from the RTS, FPS, RPG, Voxel Builder, DOTA, and Physics Sandbox genres. But since we can't peg our games genre, we like to just call it Fort Wars. FortWars Rules/Tips All you have to do is defend your teams vat and destroy the opposing teams vat. The vat is where you and your team respawn. If the opposite team destroys it, your game will end. Launch assaults on the other teams vat to win the game. [h=4]Tips[/h]1. Build a strong fort around your vat. Make sure to include a roof, and asphalt on the floor to prevent tunneling. 2. Place turrets along your walls to protect your base. 3. Teamwork is essential to win. Make sure you have just a couple builders, while everyone else is either mining or on the assualt. Shooters have to protect the miners and builders. While the builders need the miners. And the vat needs the builders. 4. Manage your minerals. Everyone needs to keep track of how much they are spending on weapons, ammo, vehicles, and turrets. Always save some for a rainy day. 5. It's all about the economy. Make sure to not let the other team take all the expansion mineral bases. These can go a long way in helping your team have a chance to buy their way out of trouble should they need to. 6. Into the deep. A good strategy is to always consider tunneling to the other teams base. 7. Darkness. Attack the other team at night In game media: HD Gameplay Screenshots The official website is here: http://starforge.com/
We've already got a thread. The devs said it would take 2-3 years for them to get it into a playable release. On top of that they are also already charging for their store points for "leaf tilesets" for a game that's incredibly laggy and not very playable. I had high hopes for the game but I don't think it'll be as amazing as it could be. Here's hoping that they get it done though.
I'm sorry, I would have known we had a thread. IF I COULD USE THE DAMN SEARCH FUNCTION.
or looked at the 1st, 2nd or 3rd page
People need to know that you can search facepunch by googling: site:facepunch.com "enter keywords here"
thats not very reliable
