Don't worry, you haven't been thrown back in time to 2005, EA have announced the release date of the v1.5 patch to Battlefield 2 after more than a year in development. You may have been trying out the beta, personally I hadn't heard of this patch until today.
Major features include making all the booster packs that were released free and included in the download.
The patch is scheduled for September 1st

As someone who hadn't bought any of the booster packs, this is certainly going to make me get that disk out again.

I guess I can understand why they're making them free, though. They're trying to beat some life into this game. Now, if I could get BF2 to run properly again. It's a miracle it ever installed at all.
I'm glad I didn't buy any booster - noone plays them (especially in europe) and its a fucking ripoff
Look at it this way, now that it's free more people will be playing those maps.
Maybe they can fix getting kicked all the time for no reason specified even after you've fixed all the crap that could cause it.

Well, I bought the expansions like 2 months ago anyway but still, widescreen support is the best thing they added.

Give us SP ranking and unlocks (without using BFCC, which doesn't let you use unlocks in SP anyway). I mean really, I hate playing with [b]real[/b] people.
Well, I just reinstalled... updated... started... and found out that for some reason it won't let me connect to any servers.
Used to play it loads but gave up when the update system pissed me off too much. Is it possible to get all the unlocks for use in LAN? Got a LAN party coming up that I am organising and thought it would be good to have all the weapons.

and nobody gives a shit because there are so few servers running those maps and those servers are pretty much empty

That's great. I used to love playing battlefield 2. Then some odd misunderstanding got my game CD key banned, and was unable to play again. I might pick it up at Target for 10 bucks just for this update.
