Introduction:
Lollipop Chainsaw (ロリポップチェーンソー) is a hack and slash video game developed by Grasshopper Manufacture for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game consoles. It features Juliet Starling, a cheerleader zombie hunter fighting zombies in a fictional California high school.

Story:
Lollipop Chainsaw focuses on zombie hunter and cheerleader Juliet Starling (voiced by Tara Strong in English and Eri Kitamura/Yōko Hikasa in Japanese) who fights hordes of zombies in San Romero High School, which Starling formerly attended. She carries with her the severed, yet still living, head of her boyfriend Nick (voiced by Michael Rosenbaum in English and Kenichi Suzumura in Japanese), whom she decapitated after he suffered a zombie bite. It is also revealed that Juliet will be assisted by her sisters, Cordelia Starling (Linda Cardellini), the elder one and Rosalind Starling the younger sister. The enemy zombies are led by "a group of zombie rock and roll lords" who were former high school students who were turned into intelligent zombies. The zombie outbreak has been caused by Juliet's former classmate, an evil goth druid named Swan (voiced by Sean Gunn), who seeks to break the barrier between the human world and the Rotten World, a world inhabited by zombies and other demonic forces.

Gameplay:
Lollipop Chainsaw is a hack and slash video game with gameplay resembling Suda51's No More Heroes games. In the game, Juliet has light attacks, which are acrobatic kicks and punches, and heavy attacks which use a chainsaw. The light attacks are intended to herd enemy zombies together so that Juliet can finish them off all at once with heavy attacks. Killing enemies and saving classmates that are being attacked by zombies will fill up Juliet's star meter, which is used for super attacks. Juliet's boyfriend Nick, a disembodied head hanging from her skirt, can be used for various purposes, including being kicked at enemies by Juliet or being put on the body of a decapitated zombie to control it. When the player completes certain tasks in the game, Juliet's chainsaw will be upgraded. Suda has also said that part of the gameplay "might involve sound".

I'm going to make this clear: I did not make this thread because I play it, or like it. I just couldn't stand this thread
All of this can be summed up with three words.
Suda51 plus tits.

So yes, just Suda51.
I can imagine a lot of fat 13 year old console kiddies buying this.
boner? i hardly knew her!
"OMG BOOBS, GOTTA BUY IT LOL!"
I don't know, maybe it will end up being a good hack and slash game......but jeez, resorting to the "sex sells" strategy is so lame.
Don't worry, it will end well.

Well, more tits.
But that's four words, not as good.
Picked the game up, it's goddamn amazing. I'm glad that everyone who tries it out comes out saying "man this is way better then I thought!"
It's funny, and surprisingly hard, you really can't just button mash to win on higher difficulties and there's actually a perma death mode that makes you redo the ENTIRE game if you die once. The grading system is kinda off but that's about all I can really fault it for. I desperately need more games like this, more games that actually treat themselves like games and not some serious drama. Trust me, if you're on the fence go for it, it's not the next bayonetta but it's easily Suda's best game so far.

Yeah but if you wait long enough she gives up, Don't ask.
Also why did she cut off her boyfriends head instead of just getting rid of the arm.

Because it's a Suda 51 game, you should leave any notion of sense at the door, kind of like an entry fee.
Oh and for the record the thread title needs to be changed as OP has the wrong Suda game.

This should have the title.

This looks like it'll be fun for about 10 minutes then get really old.
This looks like it'll be fun for about 10 minutes then get really old.
This is true
If you hate fun that is. In fact, if the very idea of having fun with a video game makes you feel sick, then stay the hell away from this game.
Also holy shit hard mode adds more enemy types, and they hit like trucks. I fucking love this game, it's one of the only video games in a long time that remembers what it is. It's not trying to make some deep moving story, it's not trying to overencumber players and force relationship building into it, it's just flat out fun. Characters run around with arcade styled "SOS" over their head, there are power ups littering the streets, you collect giant goofy tokens to buy skills and new stuff with a ton of unlockables. There's literally so much in this game it's insane how good it is, and just makes it a further shame when in 5 years it'll be hailed as the best game no one played.
This game looks like it's trying way, way too hard and even if the gameplay's great it's going to turn a load of people off and those that do get it may very well get it for the wrong reasons.
So it's essentially going to go the way of Bayonetta.
Meh.
I still like the zombie horror genre & I want to see it done with a little more creativity. A generic, uninspired title like this will just continue to drag it down and beat the life out of it- pun intended.
Ok.. That was hasty. I guess we will have to find out just how redeeming this will be, RichyZ.
If you think this is generic then here, let me explain a boss
It starts on a motorcycle and drives around trying to smash you with a metal guitar and summoning minor zombies to fuck with you while it drives around, when you get his first health bar down he tries to ram you, only for you to cut his legs off. Not one to be discouraged he combines with his cycle and forms a giant chainsaw mech elephant /thing/ and gets another health bar, the fight drastically changes to him zooming around trying to slam buzzsaws on you with mr. fantastic like buzzsaw arms, missiles, and charging attacks. Once you do enough damage and deplete the health bar you cut one arm off, he regains a bit of health but rinse and repeat. When that's finished though the boss's mech falls apart... only for him to attatch wheels to what's left and get drastically different attacks in this phase as well.. and then there's more.
This game is literally everything BUT generic, and the only reason people will turn it down is because "it's trying too hard." which, doesn't even make sense to be honest, it's trying way to hard to be what? Crazy? Fun? Yeah it's sexualized as all hell and some of the end game costumes are... of questionable tastes, but that's about it really.
just surfing through threads
this game isn't trying to be a zombie horror game, its trying to be a suda51 game, aka crazy overly sexual shit that doesn't make sense to americans but probably does to japanese gameshow hosts
You know that makes a bit more sense. If the game's title was printed as " ロリポップチェーンソー " in all pink I probably wouldn't be so off-put.

In fact here's the bosses trailer.
I went to Pax East and saw some girl posing for this.
Thought nothing of it.
I have to admit that some of the writing struck me as fairly clever and amusing.
One of the birthday presents the main character gets is a gun which can shoot her boyfriend's severed head like a cannonball, which she states she's wanted for a while. At this point the boyfriend had only been a severed head for about three hours tops. There's roughly four seconds of complete silence before the boyfriend puts two and two together.
This game pretty much falls victim to "Catherine" syndrome.
A game that's actually really good and well made, and not as sexualized as it looks (Like this one) is over looked for multiple reasons.
Kids will just buy it thinking the game is porn, not expecting it to be anything different
Actual gamers will pass it up thinking it's just a game pandering to horny adolescent boys.
The game is pretty good.Watched some gameplay of it and it seems you can get an achievement for trying to look up Juliet's skirt :v:
Bring on the rule 34's!

Okay I was kidding.
Doesn't seem much special to me. Fun for a little while, maybe.
