Seriously. Out of all the guns in all the games, no one decides to pick up the most powerful bullet based gun or the thing that claws out eyes, but instead, let Gordon do it? With that being said, since one doesn't drop a gun in Half Life 1 and 2, is there only one Magnum, Crossbow, and Crowbar IN THE GAME?!!?!?!?! Woops, people use the RPG...
What
Read.
It's a video game.
Some guys later in HL2 carry rocket launchers near the end.
The combine destroy weapons, so they have to use what they got, besides, lack of ammo and all.
What about the crowbar and the crossbow?
some guards in opposing force used deagles

Probably because of the rarity of .357 ammo and the revolvers. Also, in reality, you would probably choose the SMG1 because you'll have loads of ammo for it, you'll reload faster, (IRL you probably won't reload as fast as Gordon) you can repeatedly fire more easily, etc.
let Gordan do it?
Who is this Gordan you speak of?
Who is this Gordan you speak of?
I'm sorry, what?
I'm sorry, what?
you get it hes pointing out your mistake subtly
Gordan is Gordin's mom. Of course, Gordin is Gordun's Cousin
get it
Oh yeah, Gordyn and Gorden are Gordon's Parents
this shits runs deep so who is gorddns uncle?
what is this i don't even
Only a few rebels knew how to make a crossbow, and the only people that would know how to properly use the .357 were the soldiers or the combine, both of which already had weapons.
I'm glad no NPC's use the 357. Its world model is horrific.
Explain Half Life 1.
In Half Life 1 the combine weren't even on earth yet.
Explain Half Life 1.
Where the fuck would you find weapons in a damn research facility?
the ninja people in hl1 use crossbows in some stage or expansion
the ninja people in hl1 use crossbows in some stage or expansion
The assassins from HL1 were scary as shit when I first played the game. Although I was young..
Because if they used them it wouldn't make the video game fun.
Somebody was using the crossbow in HL2, but he's dead when you find him (wasn't he burnt to death or something?) No idea how he left the ammo for it everywhere.

Plus your like Clint Eastwood when you use one :clint:
If a combine soldier used a magnum on you, you'd be fucked. Same with the crossbow. Plus, the crossbow doesn't have a laser sight which is why the Combine Sniper is in use. Know what I mean? Not to mention, killing them means more ammo for your really powerful weapons. I mean all of this from how developers must view it. Overabundance in extremely powerful weaponry can lead to the game being boring as shit. And if the enemy has said weaponry in overabundance, it gets too hard and sucks to play.
in ep2 there is a bunch of combine that use crossbows when you are in the jeep level
