- Revision 32: [f] Steam beta now compatible, upgraded the main steam menu! The Aurealis project is basically a Steam skin which I've been tinkering since the new theme's beta. It started off just darkening the default theme and removing some of the excessive gradients that they used, plus with a few other edits such as darkening the friends chat box when you select it. Lately I've revisited it to fix a load of bugs (the base skin was still from the beta oh god) and to give it a vaguely metro-esque theme with a few details and making it a great deal more simplistic. Figured some of you guys might want a new look! I'm hoping to make a few changes to the Steam Overlay too at some point, just in case you see any bugs there! (chat box is often harder to see in screenshots) [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6438288/FireStorm Productions/Aurealis Project/preview_friends.png[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6438288/FireStorm Productions/Aurealis Project/preview_gameslibrary.png[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6438288/FireStorm Productions/Aurealis Project/preview_chatboxes.png[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6438288/FireStorm Productions/Aurealis Project/preview_screenshots.png[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6438288/FireStorm Productions/Aurealis Project/preview_serverbrowser.png[/t] [t]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6438288/FireStorm Productions/Aurealis Project/preview_settings.png[/t] Currently using SVN, since it means you can update it much easier. I'll provide a direct download link at certain milestones, but I'd really recommend the SVN! Revision 32: Direct download SVN : http://subversion.assembla.com/svn/Aurealis/ Username: anonsvn Password: anonsvn To install: 1) Get an SVN checkout program, like TortoiseSVN! 2) Shut down Steam! 3) Make a folder in your steam/skins called Aurealis! 4) Right click > SVN Checkout > Use link above! 5) Load up Steam, View > Settings > Interface 6) 'Select the skin you wish Steam to use' > Aurealis! 7) Restart Steam and enjoy! I'll post in this thread when there are updates, if there's enough interest! So yeah think that's about it, send a message my way if there are any bugs (if you can get a picture of the window, even better) or I've forgotten something in this post. Hope you like it! :v:
I really dont understand why almost all skins have to be completely darkened to the point where it just sticks out like a sore thumb on your desktop. I never thought it looked good at all, imo. The default skin fits in nicely with whatever desktop you've got because it uses a rather mellow colors that are easy on the eyes which makes reading stuff easy. But regardless, this is a very nice design. My only gripe with it are the colors.
That is fair enough, I find that since my computer is based in a pretty dark corner of the room (despite desk lamps and the such), brighter schemes hurt my eyes somewhat as I usually have a darkish background in conjunction to this. Thanks for the criticism though, the more I know, the better! [img]http://www.facepunch.com/fp/ratings/heart.png[/img]
I don't really see whats so minimalistic about this skin. It looks just the same as regular Steam but different font and colour scheme.
