• Steam needs Internet for offline mode?
    14 replies, posted
Each time I try to play any of the games I got through steam it tries to open up steam. Since I don't have Internet access where I live I tried to start in offline mode, but a pop up comes up that says: Could not connect to steam network. This could be due to a problem with your Internet connection, or with the steam network. Please visit www.steampowered.com for more info. Why won't it start in offline mode?
Offline mode has never worked.
Offline mode has never worked.
Wrong, it HAS worked. But not in the new UI. Why? I can't say, but eventually it will work.
Oh, well it's never worked for me. Fuck you Steam.
Offline mode sucks, plus it never works, and is pretty much useless since you need an internet connection to go offline. I know it sucks, but what are you gonna do?
Offline mode has never worked.
Yeah offline mode is a bit wierd. It used to work.
Just as retarded as me needing Internet connection to activate GTA4 offline
DMR my friend... DMR. You will need non-stop internet acces
I think they said it has something to do with the steam clouds. So I assume that it is fixable. [editline]04:42PM[/editline] Steam is a DRM within itself, so why would it need another one inside of it? Note: Thank you robowurmz for correcting me.
DRM. IT'S DRM. Data Rights Management. Not DMR.
it used to work for me, then it stopped, really sucks when my internet dies and I want to play HL2 to kill time
TBH I haven't tried it with the new UI so it may actually work for some people instead of some.
It's the new UI. It's always worked for me as long as I logged in once and had my password saved.
