Most people will goto a store and buy a game, maybe even buy or trade it from their friend. But perhaps you found the game or were given it under certain conditions that make it memorable. Maybe you fell in a ditch and it happened to be laying there or someone threw it at you or maybe you found a treasure map which led to it.
Me and my friend were riding our bikes on night back in 2005 and there was a storm. We were riding home when I noticed a box in the gutter. It was in bad condition but the contents were in good shape. It was Half-Life GOTY: Platinum (contained blue-shit, op4, tf and cs). We split the discs between eachother (I took HL, BS and Op4). When I got home I played HL1 and it was a memory to cherish.
I no longer have the discs anymore however because my dog was going through a phase where he would eat anything I touched.
Back in 2002, saw a plethora of discs thrown out in the park, i was picked a disc up, and noticed that it was GTA3
The rest were blank though (didn't check them all)
It's really awesome since i basically found a needle in a haystack without even trying to search for that needle.

The strangest thing is, why were there so many discs thrown out? in the midle of a fucking park
I tried out serial codes to enter to Steam and suddenly my Gunman Chronicles CD-Key (an old Sierra game using GldSrc engine) gave me HL1 Platinum Pack. It was awesome.

You can do this with any Half Life game. Excluding OpFor and Blue Shift (I think it was those two).

I entered my blue shift key in steam and got the HL pack.
I bought a game from walmart.
Never doing that again, most of the games there really suck.
On the last day of school before Summer, I found a Game Boy Advance game under a sink. No one was looking for it so I took it.
I somehow managed to buy a Nickelodeon game with random typed credit card number.
how in the hell did this get funnies.
Found Nintendogs as well as a DS Action Pack in the locker room.
This local store selling games went bankrupt, so they put out all the games they had left out on the street. Me and my friend took as many as we could :3:
Found Pokemon Blue under my grandmothers couch like forever ago
I found an old Gameboy in our car once, and no one really knew who it was from and how it got there in the first place.
I still have it somewhere, I think.
Some guy at my school gave me COD:WAW for PC completely free, because it didn't work on his computer.
okay, I didn't know that, thanks RayvenQ :psyboom:
Some guy at my school gave me COD:WAW for PC completely free, because it didn't work on his computer. Why he didn't take it back to the shop is beyond me, but I sure as hell wasn't saying no to that :v:
Game shops generally don't allow you to return PC games unless the actual disc is defective.
Was trading in my xbox games due to red ring. I collected back all the games i had lent to a friend and they ended up giving me a few of theirs too.
Acquired, then sold within 10 minutes.

Actually that makes sense. He didn't bother downloading a demo or anything though.
I found some really awful travel information game thrown out once.
also, not really a game but I found a LOTR: Return of the king DVD at home and no one knew where it came from. Pretty useless though since I already had the extended version.
I entered my blue shift key in steam and got the HL pack.
Gamestop will take anything.
Personally, I once bought Prey for the Xbox, but that sucked ass compared to what I'd played of the PC version, so I took the Xbox game back, bought the PC version, but that was obviously used (gamestop a-fucking-gain), then I saw it pristine, still in plastic in another shop for less than half the price so I thought fuck it and took the used PC game back and bought the pristine one.
That was a fucking mess.
Friend lent me a game and I forgot to give it back. Now I'm at a different college and I'll probably never see him again.
I bought the special edition of inFamous, the silly girl at the counter thought it had a bonus disc and put in 2 copies of the game, thinking it was the actual bonus disc.
I sold one and still have the other.
I found Pokemon Yellow in the closet by the front door of our house. It was a couple months after I re-bought it, too.

Actually, when I was eight or so, it was a week before my birthday, and a friend did give me a treasure map that led out into the woods. When I found the place, there was a waterproof bag with Perfect Dark, and Zelda: Majora's Mask in it.
I found an old computer thrown in some apartment my uncle was rennovating, I pryed open the CD drive and a copy of Starcraft fell out. Couldn't find the box though.
I borrowed fallout 3 from my freind and never gave it back
he has now moved away.
Once in an old storage of my home, I just randomly punched a box.
A Half Life 2 fell behind it to the floor, it was in a good condition. And it worked.
I sent a drawing of a cat to Valve via Steam support and they gave me Stalker SoC
Some internet order containing Call of Duty 2 and Starcraft.
The address had a spelling mistake and it was delivered to us. The original address was at the other side of the country so my dad said 'Nah, he ain't getting it' and we kept the games.
