Ok, you are some guy, you make a game, sell it for 2$, its fucking fantastic and actually worth alot more than only 2$, everyone loves it, and all noncreditcardposessing12yearolds strives for whining the ears of their mothers enough to get them buy it. Then here comes a little stupid 12 year old that thinks he is a comp_whiz because he can make and download torrents, and pirates a fucking 2$ game? What the fuck? Its not like its very expensive, and its not made by some big media corperation like THQ or EA or something, no its made by a 30 year old average joe who doesnt own much money, and yet, a fucking kid steals the game? Take Minecraft for example, its a fine game, but not the only cheapass gold nugget out there, Cortex Command, Garrys mod, all that, TORRENTED?! Fuck kids theese days, cant you go steal some crap game like Modern Microphone Screaming Black Shit? We need some kind of protection against pirating Indie games, in the form of a asskickin lawyer/jury whatever i havent looked into such stuff.. I would wish i could slap that kind of kids, i once knew one, he was a annoying fucktwit that pirated everything, and by god, he got deaf when i found out he pirated Death Magnetic, what a scrub.
And what exactly do you wish to accomplish by posting this?
Fighting piracy is like the war on drugs. It's pretty much impossible to win. Yes it's sad but nobody will really be able to stop it.
Here's an idea. Let people do what they want and face the consequences of it. If they torrent the game then they torrent the game, you aren't going to change their mind by ranting about it. "Indie Game" is not a title and it does not make the game any more or less important than a "Bigwig Publisher" game. If it is pirated there is nothing the creator can do about it, regardless of their publishing status. You imply that giving a game the title of "Indie Game" means it is morally wrong to torrent it, moreso than a regular game, but you're wrong. Pirating is a generalization, separating it into classes of games just makes the issue worse. Who cares who made the game or what they do for a living? Someone pirated a game and there's nothing you nor I can do about it.
Pirating an indie game is like burning the koran. It's silly, pointless and pretty sad, but there's always going to be someone that does it and there's nothing you can do about it.
Be able to get monies on your Steam Wallet by sending SMS messages would help with such stuff because that would make Steam more avaliable in countries where nearly no one uses credit cards (Poland - where i live). I am not a gigantic asshole to pirate a game that costs 2$. Instead i go beg for it in Gift (Not) Giving Threads, but that works just as well. So well, fucking no game. Also no indie releases to shops either (Well Duh) except rarely.
