What is Perfect Dark?:
Perfect Dark is a classic game for the Nintendo 64 and Xbox 360. Originally released on the N64 in 2000 when the N64 was dieing and the GC was paving over it, it ran on a heavily modified version of Goldeneye's engine and improved on many aspect's of it's gameplay. The player plays as the Character Joanna Dark, who is a whore working under the well respected pimp Daniel Carrington, when one day an order is placed for a Doctor working for the perfectly respectable medical company Datadyne. Needless to say all the guards there are dead for no reason and it starts intergalactic war.
What are the improvements over Goldeneye?:
Multiplayer bots
coop
counter ops (Single player with one other player controlling the enemy NPCs)
Online MP (Xbox 360 version only)
Voice acting
Weapon reloading
Multiplayer customization
A gripping storyline en which Prostitution-kind is doomed to extinction
Non preset loadouts in MP
Leveling system with hundreds of unlocks
Leaderboards free of hackers (Xbox 360 version only)
Ironsights
Where can I get this great game/prostitution sim?:
$120 on Ebay minimum for N64 version, used, in bad condition
OR
$10 XBLA for the Xbox 360 version
Why should I get this:?
Just do it motherfucker!
------------Witty subliminal trolling attempts in the middle of non trolling text ends here-----------
This game was truly underratted thanks to what came out before it, Goldeneye. Many people I know who play GE to this day don't know what PD is, or think it is specifically some XBLA game. I still play this (On XBLA, I sold my original cartridge in great condition to some guy on Ebay so I could get money to upgrade my PC).
The engine, being hampered by the aged and already by then unsupported N64 hardware had used extremely low polygon characters, monotone undetailed textures, and extremely compressed sound to get itself to run on the N64.
The game was originally going to use a flashlight gimmick as part of gameplay (Similarly to Alan Wank) along with full dynamic lighting, but the combination of the already hardware pushing elements forced RARE to revert to Goldeneye's pre rendered sector based lighting style.

This game definitely needs a sequel, and it better have 150% more Peter Molyneux
RARE, Y U NO SEQUEL? Y U KINECT?
Where the fuck is the section on the amazing soundtrack?

Fuck you, President, quit being a lead sponge.
The multiplayer for this is the first time I was ever called a cunt.

I came into the thread humming this.
It did have a sequel, a shit one. PD1 was amazing. I sometimes still listen to the soundtrack on youtube because it's kinda catchy.
There was a sequel made for the Xbox 360 around it's release, called Prefect Dark: Zero.
Wasn't a great game.

It's still fun, though it's very slow paced compared to PD1.
I never played the original, but I love the XBLA remake/re-release.
i grew up with this game.

The original had more "wow" factor to it, but it was hindered by the N64 hardware. The Xbla version brings it up to modern standards with better (but still sector based) lighting. IMO the original is great but the XBLA version made it better without fucking up the gameplay. Same quick deaths that force you to take cover and think, same enemy tactics, ect.
Anyone else feel that the Pelagic II level felt sort of MGS inspired in a way?
my favourite N64 game ever
so many hours, so many missions that still needed to be beaten
I enjoyed playing PDZ multiplayer. It's a great game for friends if you can get over the retarded characters.
Elvis the alien is one of the most memorable video game character of my youth.
Never played the original, but i played the XBLA remake and PDZ.
i liked both games equally.
Such an amazing game. It's a shame the source remake sorta just died.

This game was legit. It blew my mind back in the day because when you threw throwing knives at someone, the knives would stick in them.
This was the SHIT when I was a kid. The neighborhood kids would gather around a friend's N64 and we'd have a time on multiplayer.
When people are all "man, 007" im like, yeah it was legit. But Perfect Dark was a bigger part of my childhood.

I never realized how corny and hilarious the enemy death sounds are until I replayed it a couple months ago.
"WHY...ME"
When I first had PD on the N64, my cartridge was one of those pirated cartridges that you find from time to time at garage sales. Obviously this was before torrents and P2P so back in the day piracy was cheaper, not free.
Thankfully Perfect Dark had no DRM.
I still to this day cannot figure out how I beat it when all the voices and text were in English, back when I didn't even know English. Probably just clicked random shit and assumed what followed me or stood in place was an ally.

"IDONTWANTTODIE!!!!11!!1"
Don't forget on Air Force 1
"ITS A TERRORIST!!!"
I love the original, despise the prequel.
One of the best games I've played.
It is funny, I went though the entire game on perfect dark and it was more difficult then most games that have came out recently.
It's a shame that Goldeneye didn't get released in the same fashion.
I like them both, and if pdz wasn't a launch title it might not have been as bad
Got my n64 cart and the remake :h:
Welp, now I have break out my N64 aga- oh, wait... it's the only console that I still have laid out on the floor and ready to play at any time.
Popping in Perfect Dark.
Am I the only one that feels that CI defense and beyond only feel like an epilogue?
The tone completely changes and it feels 1000% more desperate than the previous levels.

I think most people, even the developers, knew that the writers just ran completely out of ideas when approaching the end. Hell, the last mission is basically just [sp]fighting Zergling knock-offs in narrow steel corridors, and then impaling the final boss with a giant sharp monument Macguffin that is protected by a shield for no reason and can do frontflips even though Joanna just basically shoots it with a laser pistol.[/sp]
Still, it's one of my fondest gaming memories out there, and I still have both the XBLA version and the original cartridge.
Also, probably my favourite part of the game to this day is how just about every character in the game has crotch-itch and will scratch their crotch every half-minute.
I remember playing Perfect Dark the first time on my N64 back when I was younger. I didn't have the expansion pack back then since I had found the game in some dumpster when I was out with my parents one day. My friend just so happened to have an extra and he let me have it. I put it in and...
i just jizzed everywhere i did not put down the game after that
Actually, The perfect dark president looks more like robert downey Jr
$120 minimum for perfect dark N64 version? I just found a lot of copies for $1 minimum.
Anyways, this game is good, use to play it a lot back in the days... lol
Fucking loved this game. The music was amazing.
Used too love this game.... a long long time ago!
