I'm a big Burning Crusade fan. I love the lore surrounding Outland, stuff from Warcraft II and WarIII:TfT. And even though I never made it far AT ALL in terms of progression and raids, I loved the way it was set up.
Now, progression is defined as bosses and heroic modes in the currently released content. The floor is raised with each content patch, so new players can jump right into Icecrown without worrying too much about anything prior. Including Ulduar. Wait, what? In the span of a single expansion, content is already utterly obsolete?
I find that incredibly boring. Logging in every day for months at a time to run the same content that was released to everyone prior to those months. Same gear, for everyone. Same bosses, just a little harder, then with 25 people, then a lot harder. Ulduar, in my opinion, has been the best this expansion's gotten, and is arguably on of the best raids in the game, but is utterly ignored now. Seriously, what the fuck.
Yearning for Burning Crusade, the days when encounters were great but real progression still existed, I've made a 70 twink. Our 70 twink guild can roflstomp Karazhan with a single Sunwell-geared tank, but even so, I've noticed that that strategy utterly destroys us every now and then. Especially with BC 5-mans, which throw Fears and Mind Controls left and right and make AE spanking an instance far more challenging than in Wrath.
I get the feeling that Sunwell and Black Temple are going to be very, very challenging. If we try to pull that shit in there, oh, the things that could go so very horribly wrong.
Here's my twink priest: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Shattered+Hand&cn=Sohra
So, anybody else tried twinking at 60, 70?
I did, I have a warrior in full T6 with Apolyon, but its just boring and uninteresting so I am going to just level him.
I couldn't stand levelling a character to 60 - 70. Knowing that I have 10 more levels of skills and spells to learn. I'm a bit OCD and would need to level the character completely otherwise it'll annoy the hell out of me.
I do however; love my level 19 Twinks. Something to do when you're bored. Just something about level 19s that makes it feel "complete" so the speak.
so how is capping at 70 > capping at 80
at 70 you had a lot more character development.
basicly you HAD to start with kara and progress to gruul > ssc/tk > MH/BT > sunwell.
where as 80, you're pretty much handed gear and it's so over saturated that an upgrade across the tiers means little. you no longer have to work for gear, compared to 70 where you had a real sense of achievement when you downed a boss and got loot.
When BC landed, I had a warrior that I kept at 60. Grabbed Hellreaver and tore apart Alterac Valley. Shit was fun.
Im thinking about doing this and lvl a warrior to 70 and twinking him in full T6
so how is capping at 70 > capping at 80
For me, I like the content a lot more. Progression isn't really all that important now that Wrath talents make us so powerful, but on a personal level that most people wouldn't agree with, I like BC's story, art design, and individual raids a lot more than Wrath's. Only Wrath raid I like as much as any of the BC ones (except Hyjal) is Ulduar.
I'm really only raiding at 80 because I have real-life friends who I do it with. I'm never particularly excited to step into ICC. People have called me out as stupid for twinking at 70 and not doing something..."useful"...but useful is entirely subjective when Wrath content will be entirely obsolete in 6 months anyways.
So, instead of being "useful" from someone else's perspective, I decided that BC > Wrath for me because I like the content more, and used my $15 a month to level myself a priest and run content I like.
if you were on eu, I would join you on one of my alts.

Its fun for about 3 seconds, really. The good thing about it is that your setup with some sick gear to level to 80 with but apart from that it gets pretty boring pretty quick these days.
The TBC days will never be back, game is completely different again now.
Although I do find it weird how I wished so hard for WotLK to be released because I was sick of playing the game yet now I would love to do TBC all over again, I wonder if I will feel the same with Cataclysm.

Yes, I've been twinking level 70 for about a month now. I have 5/8 T6 , Apolyon from sunwell , and other peices. Check me out, my name is Stency on armory.
I'm doing 2s with a Hpally in the 70 bracket, trying to get some brutal. We need more twinks in the shadowburn US AV bracket. We've cleared every single BC raid so far and have BT and Hyjal on farm. So if you're interested in twinking reroll something on wildhammer US.
Clearing BC raid content is way more fun.
Downside to 70 twinking? I can't exactly kill level 80s that I happen to run into, raids are difficult to put together at times , arena que's can be long on weekdays. I'll level to 80 eventually because I'm worthless in world PvP when I'm with friends, and it's starting to get a little bit dull. I already have my epic flyer and I'm now working on my shattered sun title and trying to get money for my tank set.
I started twinking my 70 warlock about 1 month ago, i find it fun doing karazhan again, getting alot of nostalgia moments. http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Kul+Tiras&cn=Zonzog
