This is a question thread about video games. I have no idea whether it goes in Fast Threads or here, so I chose here.
C&C RA3 is $5 on Steam at the moment and I was wondering if you guys enjoyed playing it or not.
RA2 was a blast, and I've heard really mixed things on RA3. What do you guys think?
It's not as good as RA2 and the campaign mode is a bit too campy for my tastes but overall it's a competent RTS. Resources gathering is simplified compared to RA2 but the addition of more naval units/naval base building adds enough to the meta-game to make up for it. It's not a great game but if you liked RA then it's definitely worth $5.
I bought it, RA2 is obviously better but this looks better and it works properly on my computer. It's quite fun although I have only played some skirmish matches I would buy it
I still think Yuri's revenge was the best one out of all of them.
No, it's pretty terrible on every front.
From the forced co-op that sticks you with a truly retarded AI team mate in the campaign, to the horrible balance, to the dumbed down resource gathering, to the art style, to the broken multiplayer, and countless other things.
it's a good laugh.
though imo it just feels weird at times.
Red Alert 3 was a big let down for me. Command & Conquer 4 destroyed the franchise.
I recommend you start with the classics.
Tiberian Dawn, Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 1 are now freeware thanks to a promotion EA did in 2007 for the launch of C&C 3: Tiberium Wars.

You will love these games.
Its fun if you aren't an avid RTS player and are just there for the spectacle.
It's a fun game that is worth 5 bucks. Not much more than that, though.
It's a B movie, with more porn actresses than your average porn has.

If being able to burn the games onto disks isn't a complete necessity, I would suggest downloading smaller, no-cd versions of the games instead:

No, RA3 isn't worth $5.
Late reply but thanks for the advice guys! I steered clear and will be saving my $5 for another day.
Steam summer sale :[
Am I the only one enjoyed RA3 for what it is? Heck I grabbed Tiberium Wars with this sale.
I don't get the hate here guys. Hell, its pretty fucking hard for a game to not be worth $5, and RA3 is definitively not that bad of a game. Sure, its not like BF3 top of the line shit, but I'd say its at least worth the 5. I got it, and I have to say its pretty good.
Around ¢5 I can understand for RA3, but not much more to be honest.
It's a solid game in it's own rights. Sure, it's not something special, but it's "special" alright, to provide some enjoyment.
It's pretty good if you play coop with a friend.
Honestly, it's worth it for $5 regardless.
