• Recommend Good Indie/Low Spec Games

I have a pretty good gaming rig for my main Desktop, but I just bought a new Acer Netbook, that has some pretty decent specifications to play games released in the last 4-6 years. I have an external DVD drive, so there's no worries there. So far I have my old Fallout 1 loaded, Star Wars Republic Commando, The Sims 2 and I'm working on getting Half Life 2 running (It runs but with huge lag). So, any recommendations?
Indie =/= Low Spec. Anyways: Fallout 2 Spelunky Gang Garrison 2 Elona Bionic Commando: Rearmed Final Fantasy VII Unreal 1 and 2 Unreal Tournament Unreal Tournament 2004 Call of Duty 2 Max Payne 1 and 2 Doom 1, 2, and 3 Duke Nukem 3D Daggerfall Plants Vs. Zombies
Sins of a Solar Empire runs pretty good with low/medium settings on my dad's $500 Acer notebook.
peggle is fun times, bro
CS:S works well
8bitkiller.
Heh, yeah. I'd love some more games to play too... My gaming rig died and now I'm stuck with a ATI Rage 128 Pro/1.6ghz singlecore and a gig of ram (had 1.5gigs but the 512 is corrupted I think)...
CS:S works well
If half-life 2 lags, then this shouldn't work very well. Also, what video card/integrated chipset are you using?
If half-life 2 lags, then this shouldn't work very well. Also, what video card/integrated chipset are you using?
Using the Intel Atom Chipset. I've bumped up the frame rate on Half Life 2 and it seems to work well, when there isn't too much NPC action going on, it still lags at the GMAN opening speech though, I just bought Max Payne 2 as recommended, and I'll try CSS (and report back on both) and I already had Peggle Extreme loaded just forgot to mention.
Mount&Blade
If you're into rhythm games, Stepmania will run on just about anything.
Mount & Blade all the way! Cortex Command too.

Peggle World of Goo Audiosurf
Go for Mount&Blade. NOW.
Go for Mount&Blade. NOW.
Seconded. Fantastic game, should run OK on your system.

Well, Max Payne is working smoothly and I've just started downloading CSS. The only thing left on HL2 in terms of problems is audio lag, otherwise it is very smooth. I'm also downloading Mount&Blade. Thanks for all your help, these games are awesome so far!
Wat.
It's for PC
Well, if you haven't already tried World of Goo, I highly recommend it. Quite. There's an Indie tab on the Steam Store page that you could always look at. :D
It's for PC
I think you mean that there is an incredibly shitty port for PC that lags all the time on a high spec system and is incompatible with nearly everything. Oh, and not to mention how much they shittified the music.
CSS is running fairly well, I had to do some tweaking to the config, and I have to run it in DirectX 7.1 but otherwise very good. I also got Garry's Mod to work without any lag with the -dxlevel 80 and I'm loving Mount&Blade.
Tropico or AOE.
The indie pack on steam is pretty great, I got it when it was like $10 for the weekend deal.
Mount and Blade is awesome, up until you get about 10 men. Then it lags like fuck on a shitty 500$ laptop...

Cube / Cube 2 is a nice free game. Allows ingame geometry editing so you don't get bored and plenty of maps. Although I had trouble running it at all on my old laptop, which could barely run Gmod on lowest. I would also recommend Unreal, but instead you should buy the Unreal Anthology: Unreal 1 + Na pali pack, Unreal 2: The awakening, Unreal Tournament 1999 GoTY (Awesome classic game) and Ut2004 in one DVD. Other than that i don't know many freeware / indie games.

GUISE STOP RECCOMENDING GAMES HES OBVIOUSLY PIRATING!!! anyway i suggest the original Half-Life
Dawn Of War will run on pretty much anything. Not saying it will run well but.
