HEY THIS THREAD IS INCOMPLETE, SO MOST OF THE DESCRIPTIONS ARE COPY/PASTA FROM WIKIPEDIA. I WILL GET AROUND TO EDITING THEM UP. Released: March 31, 1999
RollerCoaster Tycoon is a simulation strategy computer game that simulates theme park management. Developed by MicroProse and Chris Sawyer and published by Hasbro Interactive, the game was released for Microsoft Windows on March 31, 1999 and was later ported to the Xbox game console. Later, a special edition called Roller Coaster Tycoon Deluxe was released which contained the original game and the two expansion packs. It is the first game in the RollerCoaster Tycoon series and was followed by RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 and RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, but Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 was developed without the old owner, Chris Sawyer.
Released: October 15, 2002
One of the most notable differences from the original game is that RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 features a more robust system for building structures. In the original game (expansion packs only), the player could create large buildings by raising the terrain in blocks and then painting in wall textures, roof tiles, and windows on the cliffs. In RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, the player can create buildings by laying each piece of wall and roof pieces individually. To make constructing buildings easier, the player can lock the position of a wall or roof piece by holding the SHIFT key and moving the mouse up and down to adjust the height. The CTRL key can be held down to lock in the height of a piece. These changes gave the player much greater flexibility when it came to constructing buildings. Using the SHIFT key, the player can also raise or lower any ride or shop to a desired elevation, allowing for entire rides and shops to be built underground. Previously, only rides that had tracks could be built underground, since the player had to build the first piece above the ground, then extend the track below ground afterwards.
Released: October 26, 2004
RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 includes new gameplay features such as the CoasterCam, which allows players to "ride" roller coasters and other rides, and the MixMaster, which allows the player to coordinate firework shows and time them to in-game music. Another new feature is an in-game recorder allowing players to record their parks, rides and more. Unlike the two previous versions of the game, RollerCoaster Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, the guests, called "peeps", arrive in groups and show variation in gender and age, including children, teenagers and adults. A day/night cycle changes the demographics of the park's peeps; rides at night appeal to teenagers, while the daytime attracts families with children. Parks now have opening and closing times, and the time of day is displayed. Scenery is divided into themes to customize parks, with western-, spooky-, science fiction- and adventure-themed pieces.[2] Another feature is the ability to import coasters from previous games in the series into RCT3. The game uses fully 3D graphics instead of the isometric viewpoint of the previous games; players can rotate and zoom the view of the park to any degree. However, there is an option to fix the camera's rotation to 90° angles, as in the previous games.
Hall of Coaster Fame: RL CLONE: Test Track, Epcot Alpine Coaster Sins of Duality [hd]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2Zx2PSrYOY[/hd] Hall of Park Fame: INCOMPLETE PLEASE use this thread for general discussion of the series (no "lol 3 sux get 2" or any shit like that) and for posting your creations - THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO NEED TO CREATE ANOTHER THREAD NOW :v:
Was This game like Theme park World?
I remember this game, I failed horribly at it. :crying:
Theme Park World is a blatant copy of RCT to be honest
I have theme park world, it's in my aunts hose, wasn't a bad game. i would still play it if it had good graphics, and didn't get boring :D
Oh god I remeber this. Make loop-de-loop. Check. Shorten end so the coaster flies off. Check. Make it so it doesn't launch till it's full. Check. Watch crash. Fucking check.
I have hundreds of custom parks I have made on my old Windows 95 for Roller Coaster Tycoon 1.. This is by-far the best theme park creating game I have ever tried. It's worth it to try it out.
I have theme park world, it's in my aunts hose, wasn't a bad game. i would still play it if it had good graphics, and didn't get boring :D
I had SimCoaster, which was pretty much Theme Park World without the ability to play the sideshow games, and with more shit to put in the park. And you can ride your coasters, I don't know if you can do that in theme park world.
you could do that in theme park world too.
I have been playing RCT2 a ton recently. I beat the game plenty of times I usually just mess about in scenario editor, make the biggest flatmap possible with a section for water rides and build till I hit the walls.
Never played 2 and 3, but I found a copy of 1 today while looking through some old PC crap. I remember making lots of torture devices and weird as hell queue lines like an extremely long line for the Haunted House and a very small one for the RCs.
RCT2 runs great on windows 7 then after like 20 mins it crashes and fuxx0rz my computer
I remember I used to make the free fall towers short, so the passangers would fly off the tower and come crashing down. Good times, good times...
Didn't anything more than a simple coaster max out the extreme rating and mean that no one would ride it after the first time? I tried to remake Oblivion (a UK vertical drop coaster) No one would ride it. It cost me thousands
RCT2 is by far the best in the series. It has what one made great and expands upon it. RCT3 is the bastard child of some sick relationship with 3d graphics and horrible gameplay. Ok, it isn't that bad, but playing the other two make it look really bad.
I have to agree, RCT3 did kinda kill the game a little bit, Yeah it added a lot of new features and a fairly good 3d graphics engine, but for some reason it didn't seem like the Roller Coaster Tycoon I know it for. It seems to be missing some things.
I liked 2 the most, but I thought 3 was bad. I still played a lot, but not as obsessively or as long. I wish they made it well, then we might just be at RCT4. Whyyyyy! :bang:
Atari has said nothing about adding a new game, and their last RCT related news update was back in 2007.
The way I see it is that 3d kind of does good but mostly bad to the game. You really can't do things like this in RCT3, because it would be really laggy (I am no expert, but I think there is some things that could be done with the game to make it better suited to what it actually is), but you can do other really nice things in RCT3 that are slightly less succesful in RCT2. I don't think RCT3 had bad sales one bit. I think a lawsuit between chris sawyer and atari left the RCT series in a mess. Not that I am all against a sequel, but I think a new game has to be made, or just really good improvements to RCT. I think RCT will always have it's charm though.
I like the first the most. I don't know why. The third one is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE.
RCT2 runs great on windows 7 then after like 20 mins it crashes and fuxx0rz my computer
seems to be a common problem with windows 7 users, I doubt there is a fix beyond dual booting with xp or lower. edit: you can use virtualbox, works on it.
Grah, Why can't I set admission fees to my rides on RTC2? :bang:
I like the first the most. I don't know why. The third one is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE.
No, it isn't.
It was meh.
Grah, Why can't I set admission fees to my rides on RTC2? :bang:
Because they're paying for the park entrance. Or if you're doing campaign then chances are that it's like that on purpose.
Go to scenario editor, and make it Free Entrance, Pay per Ride, you make alot more money. Worst thing abour RCT3. Guests can swim :madmax:
It was meh.
It was alright but it wasn't absolutely horrible.
Don't get why everyone hates RCT3, it's RCT2 with 3D graphics and a ugly UI.
Don't get why everyone hates RCT3, it's RCT2 with 3D graphics and a ugly UI.
Death parks weren`t as fun
I liked RCT2 and RCT3. Fireworks were a great addition and I love seeing the parks at night.
