ODST live action trailer:
This is the single coolest commercial I have ever seen hands down! Even non-halo fans
would have a hard time saying it isn't awesome!
:siren: Directed by: Rupert Sanders NOT Neil Blokamp :siren:
Trailer has been updated to the longer Spike TV one!

Well as promised here is my review (I'm a Halo fan, but I'm also critical towards the games I spend money on).
Story:
The story takes place during the time shortly after the Prophet of Truth's ship opens a slipstream portal
in New Mombasa blowing up the city as it goes. You play as the silent rookie (seriously I think Gordan Freeman talks more than him!). Overall the story was very edge-of-your seat, and some of the twists are quite good. But the ending falls flat and comes much to sudden (got about 90% of all the audio logs and did all the side missions and still beat it in under 6 hours). My only other complaint about the campaign is that you don't get to do more as the rookie. The difference between the rookie segments and the action sequences is like the difference between splinter cell, and Gears of war, so I wish they would have expanded the rookie segments and gave you more to do (rather than just investigate).
Gameplay:
This is standard Halo fare, if you don't like Halo, don't play it! The addition of the "health bar" and stamina mechanic was an interesting change, but I never found myself really having to worry about my health even on Heroic. My biggest complaint here is the noise your suite makes when you get injured. Whenever your health drops below 40% a super annoying beeping noise starts playing, and the worst part? It doesn't stop until you find a med kit! I just didn't understand the designer's goal with driving the player insane.
Firefight:
Seriously firefight was extremely overrated in my opinion, I played it for a little while and then I really missed horde mode. There's just not enough variety in the enemies compared to Gears, and unlike Nazi zombies there's no money or weapons purchase system to make you want to stay. Maybe if they had put the flood and elites into Firefight that would have helped, but alas they didn't. My other disappointment with firefight is the design of the levels. There's about 8-10 of them, but they're mostly just rehashed campaign levels with non of that lovely Bungie touch that makes their maps seem alive. The amount of time it takes to beat a set mixed with the fact that you can only play with friends means that organizing a match and trying to stay together for 3 hours just doesn't seem worth it.
Graphics:
They are absolutely gorgeous. To anyone saying the graphics suck or the animations are poor, then they obviously haven't played this game, that or they never turned their visor mode off. That's the only complaint here, visor mode washes out the colors, and mucks everything up.
Music/Sound:
The music and sound were as always top notch, no complaints here, and the night time musical segments were chillingly beautiful.
Overall:
The thing I really have to dock this game for is its lack of staying power. It's like the best 6 hours of sex you have ever had, but then afterwards your lover chops your dick off. The game was amazing while it lasted but like everything else it must end. The real disappointment here was the asking price for what you get. You can pretty much ignore firefight unless you have a bunch of super hardcore, no life friends to play with you for 3 hours straight. I think Microsoft should have set the price at $39.00, I mean it took me longer to beat Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts, and it only cost me $30.00. $65.00 for ODST is just impossible to justify.
Overall Score: 7.9/10
It has amazing strengths, but it's faults help keep it from shining.
Looks good.
That was accutaly pretty cool. But it somehow reminded me of Starship troopers :/

Same here, lol but the ODST helmet's flip down thing was f*cking cool!
Shit was harsh, man. Also, dayum.
Edit:
I mean, this looks like it'll be great. I like trailers of this style.
What language is that?
The brute didnt look too realistic, kinda like a plastic toy that has been put onto a blue-screen. But still, i thought that was fucking insane
What language is that?
Latin, maybe. Or Celtic, or just some random Hollywood language.
What language is that?
Russian.

It was a commercial though, but ya I agree. I just wish it was a different Covenant altogether Brutes
are already lame to begin with...
Why russian?
The person who sent me the trailer told me. And he speaks it.

actually i meant, why are they speaking russian? Why not english or something
looks badass
actually i meant, why are they speaking russian? Why not english or something
Now that I have no idea of. Maybe it wasn't supposed to be released in the
US yet, or maybe just to give it atmosphere. Ever notice how when someone
speaks in another language it just sorta cancels out bad acting?
SUCK on* this playstation! and you suck on it long and hard!
O! D! S! T!
It shoulda been an elite because from what I know ODST takes place right after the covenant ship leaves new mombasa and the alliance hadn't been formed yet.

We're allied with the Sangheli though.

Good point, we haven't formed an alliance at that point.
That man is amazing.
Russian.
Pretty sure it's not Russian, I speak Russian
Holy shit. As a Halo fan, I declare this "best trailer of '09".
Also, I'm loving the look at the new squad at the end. That main guy had to have been the rookie.
Neill does it again.
it somehow reminded me of Starship troopers :/
Agreed. Also, that was a terrible film (Starship Troopers, not the trailer).

This guy. http://www.youtube.com/user/doylefan
Anyways, this is an awesome trailer. I might pick this up for my xbox.
Russian.
It was an African language, it must've been in New Mombasa.
What language is that?
It's an african language:

Maybe swahili?

More than likely.
I'm getting this game when it comes out.
Agreed. Also, that was a terrible film (Starship Troopers).
The first one was good.
The rest were horrible.
