Hey every one i'm new to this forum but i came for help...
my portal game was running slow and i decided to lower some settings.
after lowering the settings my screen went black! i restarted steam and ran portal again yet it stayed balck but could hear some sound...
now i have no idea how to reset the settings or fix this problem.
could anyone help?

Did you try and reinstall it and everything? I'll see what I can do. Try these:
Try running it in a window.
Update your drivers to the latest version.
I'll look elsewhere for more with that problem.
Post your specs. So I can see what graphics card you are using.
Add -autoconfig to your launch options.

how would you specically add it iknow how to get to properties and to where it says to type but just put the word "autoconfig" or anything else needed to add?
You have to include the - too.
