$ or €? What does Steam use? - Games

On the internets it says 4.99$ for Garrys Mod. On the Steam CLIENT it says 4.99€ Which one is it? because they are valued different amount of money transferred into Swedish crowns.

I miss the times when it was $ for everyone. Was really money saving. But I think they changed that because of the cheap prices local stores hadn't any chance.

Europeans pay more because Valve is lazy to get their shit right. These idiot's should have left it as it was like before two years. I could pay with paypal the same way. Now I am having to pay more. They are just lazy to fix it as it would mean more complex business for them, more complex contracts with the game studios etc etc. It's not fair.

Valve is just taking advantage of it, the Euro-Dollar exchange rate is 1.459 so they are getting 45.9% more. Not that it really affects me since I've stopped purchasing from Steam anyways, except for some rare good deals.

Wasn't there something about digital distribution pissing off the local stores that might have something to do with this? It was quite a long while ago.

You can pay in $ easily. I bought the orange box in $ so I saved some. Now I don't buy nothing no more from steam. I would have bought Mount&Blade when it was 10€ but I refuse to pay the full price on games which is nearly 1.5 times as much as in America. Even people in the UK pay less then the rest of the western EU, sometimes even less than people in US. Fallout 3 is 30€ in stores and 45€ on Steam. That is bullshit.
