On the internets it says 4.99$ for Garrys Mod.
On the Steam CLIENT it says 4.99€
Which one is it? because they are valued different amount of money transferred into Swedish crowns.
Oh, ok.
in short, europeans pay more because their money is better.
they wouldn't be doing this to the zimbabwe dollar.
I miss the times when it was $ for everyone. Was really money saving. But I think they changed that because of the cheap prices local stores hadn't any chance.
Weird I see $4.99 on the Steam store, yet I see 3.99€ on my client. :buddy:

I see 3.99€ too.
SOME games are a little reduced, but even then they still cost more. (Clicky)
In Europe, you have a good chance of getting a cheaper retail version.

I'm european, I just transfer my € over to another american card in $ and pay from there :v:

Bullshit. Exchange rates are awesome, the euro isn't.
And I refuse to pay 71 bucks for B:AA
Garry types in the price for every single person.

Sorry, but I don't understand you.
How can you say that when the value of the currency dictates the exchange rate?
Europeans pay more because Valve is lazy to get their shit right.
These idiot's should have left it as it was like before two years. I could pay with paypal the same way. Now I am having to pay more.
They are just lazy to fix it as it would mean more complex business for them, more complex contracts with the game studios etc etc.
It's not fair.
Valve is just taking advantage of it, the Euro-Dollar exchange rate is 1.459 so they are getting 45.9% more.
Not that it really affects me since I've stopped purchasing from Steam anyways, except for some rare good deals.
Wasn't there something about digital distribution pissing off the local stores that might have something to do with this?
It was quite a long while ago.

Now I mostly get like half a price at local reseller and I got a box as bonus, so I don't really have reason to buy them from steam.

I get to pay twice the overpriced steam price at local stores.

Unless you're not in a Eurozone country :smug:

The value of the currency doesnt dictate the exchange rate :sigh:
God does :smug:
It's swedish kronor, not crowns.
You don't say amerikanska daler instead of amerkanska dollar in swedish do you?
http://steamunpowered.eu/
there are different euro zones in europe so it doesn't have to do anything with valve being lazy.
They are simply unfair for making more money.
You can pay in $ easily. I bought the orange box in $ so I saved some. Now I don't buy nothing no more from steam. I would have bought Mount&Blade when it was 10€ but I refuse to pay the full price on games which is nearly 1.5 times as much as in America.
Even people in the UK pay less then the rest of the western EU, sometimes even less than people in US.
Fallout 3 is 30€ in stores and 45€ on Steam. That is bullshit. If it was 45$ on steam it would be the same price in stores but I am not willing to pay the difference even though I prefer steam to hard copies
