Is there any better, more stable way to play FSX online? Game Spy just plain sucks, and everything I've come across on Google so far really has no documentation as to how to get it to work. I'm a big aviation enthusiast, so dumbing down replies isn't necessary.
Aviation =/= multiplayer :)
You could try to find a hamachi server and play "lan" on that.. But on other than that, you're stuck with gamespy.
There's other options than Game Spy out there, but have no docs.
You can join one of those flight groups that have their own servers and stuff. There can be like 200 people online at the same time in one city.
Such as?
There are none really. If you really want a good experience, go to a server that forces you to talk to other people on a mic for atc

Yeah, but Game Spy sucks. Always kicks me off, and other people I know off. For no reason.

It did that to me when I ran it through Steam, so if you are, stop.
No, I'm not. Running it the normal way.
There is no real way to get around it.
Does anyone know of any communities of serious pilots or sim pilots?
VATSIM is one, though I'm not sure if it's still active.

If anyone here is into this whole thing, PM me.
