So i got call of duty 5 a while ago for my birthday, installed it on one computer, enjoyed, then it got scratched and i couldn't install it on my home computer. No worries, I think, i run over to my favorite torrent site and grab a download for it, thinking i could just use it to install the missing data and then use my cd key and cd for everything else. It worked fine, I installed it, patched it, and I could play online just fine, fun game. A while ago I deleted it for some reason, cause i hadn't played it in a while, but it was a mistake. I decided last weekend that I wanted to reinstall it, so i went and re downloaded it, installed it, and played some single player, while waiting for the patches to download. I installed the first patch, 1.2, just fine. Then 1.4, no problems. But when I tried to install 1.5, I was informed that I needn't update, as I already had patch 1.5. I thought this was strange, but didn't pursue it too much, moving on to 1.6. The 1.6 patch informed me that I needed to install the 1.5 patch. This was very confusing, so I went to have a look in the game folder. There are no .exe's. None. It's a 6.89 gb folder full of data that can't be used. When I installed it there were .exe's, but sometime between 1.2 and 1.5, I lost them. Now I can't play the game, and I can't install the 1.5 or 1.6 patches. What's wrong, facepunch?
