Your epic Total War battles - Games

well since the custom forums are hidden in the back and therefore inactive i thought i would ask here. what is your most epic Total War battle? feel free to give a resume, the worse odds for victory the better. My best battle was a defence in R:TW:BI Campaign, playing as saxons the Franks gave me alot of grief so i swooped them off the campaign map, destroying their last town spawns 4 full stack armies, now i was depleted to 600 soldiers (3 shield and spearmen, 3 archers and 1 light cavalry) 8000 soldiers laid siege on my depleted army, so i set up 3 roadblocks throught the city since it had 3 gates. it turned out that 2 of these were extremely successful. but the fact that one of the armies moved to the front so that it was two armies front and one on the left took a toll at my shield wall. i reinforced it with the idle roadblock and it worked for some time. after about 25 minutes i realised that now 450 men was not going to hold off the 4000 men running down the street, so i rode my cavalry down the open street and rode through the army from the back, this caused serious casualties and 2000 soldiers routed. this left about 1500 remaining enemies on the left shieldwall. i rode behind them and gave them the same treatment resulting in an epic feeling in the guts. Heres the Results: the numbers i remembered was way off, but still epic shit. I'm not sure if it was my most epic, but in Medieval total war 2, i had 2 pairs of peasant archers and regular peasants. I lost the fight, but with major macro I killed about 2000:D

One of my forts I captured was constantly getting attacked, I had very few units left to guard it, one Unit only had one guy in it. So as the army approached my fort, I sent that one guy out there, and attacked the battering ram [img]http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y37/SaborWolf/SirRambo.jpg[/img] All by himself, he stopped it, No shit. Of course they poured over ladders and through the siege tower, but two openings was much easier to defend than three with my limited soldiers, and because of that one soldier, I won the battle *Edit* Brings new meaning to that quote from Total War [quote]It is better to be on hand with ten men than absent with ten thousand.[/quote] One man in the hands of a Human > a thousand men at the hands of Stupid AI

Probably that aztec spanish historical battle in MTW2. Survived with 6 guys left, with Cortez routing 3 whole formations on his own.

MTW2, had 200 archers, defended my city against army of 2000 heavy armed men, won.

I was "test stressing" my computer just to see how many men could it take at ones before crash to desktop/bsod well it was over 14,000. A defence mission it lagged like hell.

My final battle in my Teutonic campaign, I had surrounded their fortress with 5 of my best armies. My computer nearly died because of the sheer epic this battle contained. [img]http://filesmelt.com/downloader/epicbattle.jpg[/img]

I played as Scottland, I defended a city against a huge army with only 2 longsword units an 2 bowmen, enemy had like 2000 soldiers. I defended one street it was a massacre, constantly fighting. Until the enemy flanked me, but I killed a lot. Epic stuff and then regrouped at the town center and utterly crushed.

In the Teutonic campain of M2TW as the Danish i had one group of Huscarls holding a village. The town center was on the top of a steep hill with a long road leading up, so I kept my troops at the center and attacked when the enemy reached the top. I held the town against two-three small stacks before loosing the town. :v: No screens though :frown:

I don't really have too many epic battles in Empire Total War:( A lot of the time i just spam cannons because it works, and i still love it.

meh, i just realised that i set battle difficulty on easy in my Austria empire campaign... can i change that even though i've already started playing?

This thread made me look for epic battles. I watched a ton of PrinceOfMacedon's battles on Youtube ( [url]http://www.youtube.com/user/PrinceofMacedon[/url] ) and was inspired to play Rome online. After getting it to work I joined a 2v2 seige. The attackers were Julii and Scipii, the main defender Macedonia and I was Greek Cities. After an average but long defense we were pushed back into the city center, a huge plaze with 4 streets leading onto it. The Julii had suffered moderate casulties in the assault but had wiped out my ally entirely. I reinforced three of the plaza corners with two units of Armoured Phalanx each, cavalry ready to support line breaks and archers behind two of the lines. The other corner was defended by two units of Spartan Phalanx. After half an hour I'd worn down the Romans enormously, but then a massive cavalry charge broke two of the corners, pushing me back, the support troops were massacred by flaming arrows and the third corner was encircled and slaughtered. I then spent 15 minutes defending a side street against roughly 1000 Roman soldiers and almost finished off the Julii before they broke through one of my units and scattered the Spartans, another cavalry charge crushed them into nothing until there were only 12 left and the siege attack timer ended and I lost.

I once had a massive battle in RTW, I forget just how many men were in it, but the front line stretched from one side of the map to the other, it was huge, thousands were killed. I was playing as Rome in the campaign with two friendly AI units with full armies, fighting the Gauls who also had several full armies on the field. The battle took about half an hour of just constant killing before the Gauls finally routed due to my relentless boxing them in with Legionaries and pounding them with Cavalry. I had modded the game so units cost nothing and required no upkeep so the AI had huge armies everywhere, it was glorious.

I remmeber in Empire total war (few mounths ago), as sweden. I took over Paris 1748. The brittish empire march to Paris with more then 2000 men (with full strength), while I got around 350 hurted soldiers to defend with. Around 15 minutes in the beginning of the battle, I manage to crush all their canons and few hundred of their soldiers. What I had left was 120 soldiers and the general. I decided to use of our building for defend and stay of all cost. To the end, We won the battle, we lost around 30-40 men for defending the buildning, but my boys manage to kill around 1700 brittish. D: After the victory, I took a soda for celebrate. :3 (Ps: Sorry for my bad engilsh, but I hope you understanded what I said.)

R:TW, Julii, I had 2 Town Watch, 1 Velite, 3 Principles, and 1 Equites against two Britanian armies, which were filled War Band and Head Throwers, and some Druids. I hid the Equites in the trees. Just as the two armies attacked I had the Equites charge. The charge somehow broke the Army in two halves. Two of the town watch were holding the line against around 210 War Band. I had the Equites which only sustained 3 deaths charge the war band fighting the Town Watch, which routed them. Using the Town Watch and Equites which Were down too about 30 Soldier altogether I flanked the Druids decimating them, then the Priniciples and Velites were started to take a bad beating. Thinking quickly I using the Equites and some remnants of the town watch we managed to box them in and destroy them. I still don't know how I did it. Basically a Roman Battle of Thermopylie. Only 14 men in my army was still alive. My General died mere minutes before the battle's conclusion.

Probably the time my friend and I were playing MTW2 and we set the money to max. I had a pike army, he had a cannon elephant army. Needless to say I lost, but it was still funny watching my army die really really fast.
