Pdan4, are you a beginner to mapping? The standard of mapping in the pictures is .. poor to say the least. Try reading some tutorials on youtube or valve wiki, this mapping that you are doing now is not release-worthy.

I was just making a reactor test.
I kinda liked the HL2 one, but the Portal map was just what.
The HL2 one was awful, all it was was a bunch of already made Valve models strewn together. It sucked, try to give the mapping a story in itself.

It was a mix of excellent brushwork and displacement work, along with carefully placed props that actually makes it look good. What you're is very basic brushwork with almost random prop placement. Please try to improve a lot before starting anything close to a mod.

A wise man once said you don't need to be a chef to know good food, and you don't need to be a good mapper to know the difference between a shit map and a good map. If you've seen Valve's test maps and developer texture maps, you'll see that they're already "built" and have a basic layout. What you've done is just gone in full force and tried to build the whole map at once, instead of building a blueprint (so to say) and then working on the map one piece at a time. And don't try to make two mods at once.

I'm not making a reactor map, I just made a reactor in a simple box to test it. Improve what? You say "improve it" when I don't know what "it" is. Which brushwork? The ceiling? The windows? The attic? All of it? Honestly, 99% of people on FP don't even read half of what I say. I think Arctic Escape looks nice, but I really think you should work on your attitude towards other members. If somebody says they think it's bad, you don't say "I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU DO BETTER", you ask them kindly to tell you why it's bad. As the guy a few posts above said, you don't need to be a chef to judge food. You've treated everyone in this thread like shit. Nobody is going to take the time to write out a nice comment if you haven't been nice to anybody.
