Five year WoW-veteran, just deleted all toons and uninstalled the game.

I've truly had my fill of the damn thing and just swore off it.
Several reasons for it, some minor, some major. Minor ones being the enormous amount of young children/trolls in the game (they're in all realms now, and not just in trade, so you can't really escape it), as well as Blizzard being an undeniable money whore. The bottom line of Blizzard is money now, and even though WoW is a good game, that fact bothers me too much. The game is also overpopulated, and watered down compared to the way it felt in vanilla. The major reason I quit though, is the ludicrous amount of time I've spent simply sitting in a chair, staring at a screen due to WoW.
When you think about it, everything you do in WoW, stays in WoW. All that work you put into those 85 toons will never yield anything in real life, or anything practical, or useful in any way. It's simply an addictive money pit, as well as a time pit; meanwhile, someone with a real life is in a bathtub full of your money over at Blizzard. A bit like a parasite, to use a metaphor.
Thought I'd share this.
Below: upset fanboys, shitstorm brews, boxes ho!
Defend your addictions!

This actually pretty much sums up games and pretty much anything recreational.
We play not for advancement in life or making ourselves better people.
We play for FUN.
And fun is as good a reason as any to waste our lives on. At least we die happy.
Good luck.

There are many other games that don't cost $15 a month, a lot of which don't include most of the bullshit I mentioned.
And if you want to play the recreational card, a basketball costs about 10 bucks. Going out hiking costs none. Etc, etc.
Children and trolls are in every game, Blizzard has always been in it for the money (they are a company, in case you didn't notice), and the game is a million times better than "vanilla".
Not to mention it's pretty dumb to delete your characters, why not just cancel, uninstall, and leave it at that?

His point still stands though
Minor ones being the enormous amount of children trolls in the game
What, like every other multiplayer game? This is also showing that you're potentially antisocial enough not to stick with a clique of good friends
As well as blizzard being an undeniable money whore
Oh no a company wants to sustain its game while giving content to the players THE HORROR
The game is also overpupulated, and water down compared to the way it felt in vanilla
Overpopulated? You mean you'd be happy if the server population was sparse and you couldn't get a group for things? Also, vanilla WoW was a bloated, buggy, expensive pile of crap compared to what later expansions have offered. You're looking through this with nostalgia goggles you "WoW-veteran"
the ludicrous amount of time i've spent simply sitting in a chair, staring at a screen due to WoW
That's your fault not the game's. If you can't moderate your time spent on a PC then that goes to show how distanced you are from the social norm.

Just like every single successful MMO to date. I get a lot of enjoyment out of WoW and I'm glad to be supporting a company like Blizzard, because they make decent games.
In a nutshell, i'm glad to see one less deluted "WoW-veteran" leave the scene to make way for people who actually appreciate the game.

Or better yet; sell your account.

Most of what you just said is just a matter of your opinion, with your own sarcastic undertone added in.

Sounds like you're the kind of person who does neither.

No, children ARE in every multiplayer video game, and Blizzard IS a company (:downs:). You could argue that it's my opinion that current WoW > vanilla WoW, but from an objective game design standpoint it is exponentially better designed now.

Bravo, Blizzard fanboy.

Bottom line is that you shouldn't look back at this time with disdain, look back it knowing that you are now wiser for it.
Just put it behind you and forget about it. try to look forward now.
Personally I have 'wasted' much of my life on games, and I don't regret it because it shaped me to the person that I now am, hate myself or love myself, I'm still me and I wouldn't want to change that any single bit.

Coming from the person who described themselves as a WoW veteran
I mean after all if you don't like a game and someone does it instantly makes them a fanboy right.

Damn...hard to argue with failed logic like that...

Speaking of failed logic:
The major reason I quit though, is the ludicrous amount of time I've spent simply sitting in a chair, staring at a screen due to WoW.
Followed by:
And if you want to play the recreational card, a basketball costs about 10 bucks. Going out hiking costs none. Etc, etc.

Damn...hard to argue with failed logic like that...
So let me get this straight.
You consider yourself a 'WoW vet' (you even aware of how ridiculous that sounds?) but somebody calls WoW, a game you obsessively played for 5 years, a successful MMO (which it is) and they're a fanboy?
Damn...hard to argue with failed logic like that...
LOL...I guess coming in the WoW forum section and dissing WoW is like eating a big fat steak in the middle of a Peta gathering.
Yeah just like if you were to go onto any other forum and diss their topic. It's not edgy or cool and nobody's looking at you and thinking to themselves "Wow this guy has it all figured out".
We get this topic once a month so you're nothing new
You do realise that he's saying why he quit and all your arguments are that yes, the game is like that. So why exactly is he so wrong?
LOL...I guess coming in the WoW forum section and dissing WoW is like eating a big fat steak in the middle of a Peta gathering.
Perhaps if you were a good troll it would've been more fun
You do realise that he's saying why he quit and all your arguments are that yes, the game is like that. So why exactly is he so wrong?
There's two different ways of saying what they perceive to mean the same thing. For example, these two statements can be inter-changeable depending on your mindset:
The game is engaging
The game is time consuming
.
Most of what I've said summed up as.

Ah, the old crybaby face, original.
Yeah the rage angle really reeks originality too.

Every company and every game is like that, if something is successful then why not make it MORE successful.
The world and life is about money so why not get more of it, like any other company with a healthy brain would do the same.
Hell in TF2 you need to pay for hats and weapons that do SHIT in real life and people still buy it and what does Valve do? Give more Weapons and HATS! so they get more MONEY.
You're pretty ignorant.
All I hear from the OP is bawwwww they changed my game for the better bawwwwwww
