So I've been out of the gaming scene for a couple of years now with work, girlfriend and mates taking up a lot of my time, I've had a few games here and there over the past couple of years but nothing like I used to, mainly sticking to older games such as the Battlefield games, BF2 and 2142, I did buy Bad Company 2 but it's too console-y for my liking. Also spent a bit of time on L4D2 recently which was fun. So I'm asking you guys here what your recommendations for some good, recent games are? It's been ages since I picked up a gaming magazine so don't really know what's out there at the moment.
Looking for mainly FPS games with good multiplayer but I keep an open mind so any suggestions will be welcome.
I only ask because I'm staying in more these days due to saving money so need something to pass the time when I'm home. Surprisingly the gaming PC I put together a few years ago can run the newer titles at a decent FPS so that's not too much of a worry either.
Since bc2, there hasn't really been much worthwhile.
BF2 is still played alot, you can still stick to that.
In my opinion both the cinematic (Uncharted, Heavy Rain, etc) and racing (GT5, Forza) genres have been making great strides as opposed to first person shooters with gameplay mechanics unchanged from when Halo was released nearly a decade ago

GT5 hasn't changed from GT4 except the visuals really.

You forget about online racing with customized cars
Organized races are fun as heck
Get Killing Floor.
A great value game with tons of fun.
Had a quick look at Killing Floor on steam, seems pretty good and cheap enough, got it downloading as we speak. Cheers.
Anything else worth a look?
Cod 4, MW2, Black Ops all have good sp and mp.
inb4 "bawww mw2 sucked"
The sp is absolutely awesome and the mp although ridiculous (ridiculous perks, killstreaks etc.) is pretty good.
I prefered mw and mw2 to bo.

None of those games are worth the price at all.

If anything OP should get CoD4 out of those three, it has mods and dedicated servers.
Team Fortress 2?

If you can get over how shitty the community is these days.

The single player campaigns are intense.
The vast majority of gamers disagree with you.
Yeah they were good. Still not worth the money.

I agree they're fine games, but the short singleplayers just isn't worth the price tag, and all 3 of those got likewise MP gameplay wise, so personally I would just get 1 of them.

You're one of those "HEH LOL ITS COD COD is DUMB! XD" guys. I hate it.
Call of Duty 4 was one of the best games that have ever graced this world. It's predecessor however, was not.
And Black Ops is just fine.
Get off the damn bandwagon.
If you have a fairly good computer, Arma 2 might keep you occupied.
Starcraft 2 is good too, all the custom games are fun(Tower defense, dota esque stuff, fps, tps, fighting games, etc), and the singleplayer is awesome
