I know I have to do something with the .gcf file, but I'm not sure what.
I've seen videos recently of people editing HL2 game sound files, and I'm thinking that the process can't be too much different.
Example:
Changing "Fire in the hole!"
to "Suck a fat one!"
And what would VAC's take be on the issue? Bannable?
Thanks for the help in advance, guys.
To edit them, download GCFScape. Once downloaded, fire it up and click open, then counter-strike source shared.gcf. Go into the sound folder, and edit the sounds that you wanted to change.
Don't edit it inside the gcf. Extract them into cstrike/sound/ and then name the replacements the same. They will be replaced in game and if you ever get tired of them, simply delete the .wav and you still have the original ones in the gcf. Also, this is a custom "skin". You won't be banned for it.
So just save them out in the open of cstrike/sound? Or do I need to put them in a specific
Export them from the GCF to cstrike/sound/(same as the GCF path)
And no, its far from bannable. I believe you can only get banned for modifying Hl2.exe.
