Just got dota 2. don't know how to get started - Games

anyone have any idea how to get started? no experience in any other dota game.

Rage through a couple of ten bot matches at least.

Read a lot of guides, play a lot of bot matches (preferably with an experienced friend - they can constantly give you aid and critique), and experiment with a lot of different heroes. Especially heroes which are considered "good for beginners," like Lich, Skeleton King, Drow, etc. DOTA is pretty much like any other skill. After awhile you'll really pick up how to play it. It just has a long skill curve.

That guide has everything, and I mean everything, you need to know about DOTA 2. You will suck, you will die, you won't have fun for awhile, people will get mad at you, and you'll slowly learn how to play the game properly. If you can take away what the guide is telling you you will become an excellent player: the sort who really doesn't care about his ego in a match but rather how to contribute to a team.

I skimmed through it (the guide) and, the guide pretty much explains the entirety of DOTA, including the playerbase, its just preparing you for the actual players.

One needs to admit that they suck, because no one is born knowing how to play anything. If you refuse to accept that then you won't learn from mistakes and if you don't learn you'll be just another "pro", an eternal noob. Either that or you'll end up giving up the game. Also, if you can't take "insults" from a guide, how are you going to handle whatever the players in a match tell you?
