(PC Only) Killing time until Borderlands, counting the dots on my ceiling does not suffice. Time wasters usually have a good amount of content and replayability. I've played: Fallout 3 Oblivion Half-Life (and all affiliated games - OpFor, HL2+eps, etc) Saints Row 2 Everything GTA No multiplayer please.
Tropico Mount and Blade Neverwinter Nights Mass Effect Dwarf Fortress
Audiosurf
Liberal Crime Squad, text based and freeeeeeeeee. click me
Any Rainbow Six

Oh, also: Cortex Command.
Play Red Faction Guerrilla on Hard. It's a fun game and has an actual challenge on hard. You don't feel like half man half refrigerator. I'm playing it to waste time for the same reason you are.
My recent addiction, Fable: The Lost Chapters
Spelunky.
Any flash games.
World of Goo, seeing as how right now you can get it for one cent.

Too bad they're insulting a game they're unlikely to have played and as soon as they heard "text based" they understood "shit pile".
touhou
Garrysmod
Ascii Sector.
Osmos, World of Goo, Peggle and Multi Theft Auto (The san andreas version). These are some games that I throw on my netbook and bring with me.
DEATHWORM. That's how you spell it by the way.
I always considered a "time waster" to be a game you can just start up, play for a couple minutes, then stop. Something like Fallout 3 or Oblivion tends to demand more of your time. Maybe something like the Worms series or Pocket Tanks
You mustn't waste time. You should treasure it.

sim city 4, playin' since 04', best of the bunch. get sim city 4 deluxe edition, really fun. Load it with a fuckton of mods and you're in business. There is even a Mars mod if you're a red faction/mars fan.
Sim City 4 is a blast, I wish I still had my disk :<
its fun creating cities, and also don't forget mods. A lot of those buildings are from mods, like the World Trade center. You can actually have jobs there, too. (ignore my cheats please)
Fuck I could never get a positive income in that game
Fuck I could never get a positive income in that game
same here well what I do is i get really in debt, then I make army bases and whatnot, and then I've got enough to keep a small town of 2000 alive.. but... i don't do that anymore. :)
You have to lower spending for schools and police and stuff. Just be a cheap bastard
