I know at least a few of you played the fuck out of the demo back in the early 2000s.

This was a game made by WildTangent for Win2k/WinXP. If I remember correctly, it was discontinued because nobody actually bought it. I am one of the people that did and I remember it being fun as fuck, but that was many years (and computers) ago.
Fucking nostalgia.
So, the question is, are any of you one of the remaining few that has the files for the full version of the game (the game is abandonware, so this is not a warez post)
[editline]/[/editline]
Poast, dammit
Abandonware is still warez.
Looks like Metroid.
Abandonware is still warez.
no it isn't
Abandonware is still warez.
Oh, you so backwards BmB.
So, does anyone have something relevant to say?
I remember playing the demo for this on my grandparents computer way back in the day. It was pretty awesome.
I remember playing the demo for this plus several other games on my grandmas computer. There was another one where you were some spaceship flying about... that that was pretty awesome.

Dark Orbit? :buddy:
I never was able to get the full version of that one, though. :saddowns:
no it isn't
Yes it is, it doesn't matter whether the owner of the IP *could* make money of it or not, they're the owner and they will be until the copyright expires. Until that time you need their permission to redistribute it.

Abandonware = Copyright expired or is no longer owned.
Quit posting dude, you're makin' a scene.
so THAT'S what the name of that game was, never did figure out what the name was since i played it when i was a kid.

You really do make a point to talk out of your ass everywhere don't you?

Video games as a medium isn't old enough for that to have happened yet. 70 years after author death, 50 years after creation in case of a corporation. Might vary by region.
WildTangent still very much exists and since this is from the early 2000's....
Not the point. Abandonware =/= "Warez"
the "abandon" in abandonware pretty much gives it away I don't see why BmB has to appear like he knows everything about everything!
I don't, obviously.
But I know this. It's still piracy regardless of how "abandoned" it is. There are notable exceptions such as Freespace 2 that explicitly allows sharing in the EULA and had the source code released. but that is a very special case.
Shut up BmB.
But yes , I do remember playing the shit out of the demo for this. Shame I didn't get the full version.
Oh wow. BmB is back... Fucking troll should be permbanned.
Those graphics look betty bad.
Shameless self bump.
"In most cases, software classed as abandonware is not in the public domain, as it has never had its original copyright revoked and some company or individual still owns exclusive rights. Therefore, downloading such software is usually considered copyright infringement, though in practice copyright holders rarely enforce their abandonware copyrights."
"Several websites archive abandonware for download, including old versions of applications which are difficult to find by any other means. Much of this software fits the definition of "software that is no longer current, but is still of interest", but the line separating the use and distribution of abandonware from copyright infringement is blurry, and the term abandonware could be used to distribute software without proper notification of the owner."
"Proponents of abandonware argue that it is more ethical to make copies of such software than new software that still sells. Those ignorant of copyright law have incorrectly taken this to mean that abandonware is legal to distribute, although no software written since 1964 is old enough for copyright to have expired in the US.[9] Even in cases where the original company no longer exists, the rights usually belong to someone else, though no one may be able to trace actual ownership, including the owners themselves." If WildTangent has not dropped the copyright on their game, it may be considered illegal to download, although it is highly unlikely that they will follow it up.

Graphics don't make the game

No, you are wrong.
The copyright has been ABANDONED BY THE COMPANY THAT MADE THE GAME.
IT IS NO LONGER RESTRICTED TO LICENSEES AND CAN BE SHARED FREELY.
SHUT YOUR IGNORANT WHORE MOUTH
bmb every post you have ever made is wrong i've seen you post in my threads with faulty advice just :frog:
Yeah, in the case that the company has abandoned the copyright for its game, it becomes legal to download.
Abandonware is still warez.
abandonware means the game is ABANDONED by the company....they don't make any money out of it, so yes it IS legal to get it for free

Wildtangent never released the game into the public domain. It's technically copyright infringement, but it doesn't matter because the company doesn't care about it enough to do anything.

The problem is, a company can't just abandon a copyright before it expires by not doing anything. They have to actually release it from copyright in writing, but as I said, it's irrelevant if they don't enforce it.
Who cares? By FP's rules, abandonware isn't warez, so this argument is just pointless and pedantic.

I used to have a whole folder of games including this one that came with an old pc with XP. I can remember there was a modern rts and one where you fly a spaceship around an isometric view getting upgrades and stuff.

Did the latter happen to look like an LSD trip and require you to capture flags? I've been looking for that one, too.
