How to make Sleep Is Death run properly on my sisters netbook

So basically, my sister has a netbook, and when it plays Sleep is Death, it chugs along and doesn't do a lot of anything. This is extremely annoying because we both want to play Sleep is Death with each other because it sounds like an extrodinary idea.

If anyone knows how to make Sleep is Death work without resorting to extrodinarily slow game chugging please tell me.

The Specs are

Intel Atom 1.6GHz
1GB RAM
Intel GMA 950

I know the specs aren't very good, but it's typical of a netbook and I am wondering why it will not work, especially since it can play far more graphical games than 2D Sleep is Death.

Please help.
