Hey FP...
Does anyone know how to fix the issue where you minimize a Source game from fullscreen into windows then go back to the game, that your fps drops for 200 or so to 45 or so? Its kind of annoying when you have to copy console codes you made or test a script... Might aswell restart the game...
PS my specs:
Windows Seven Ultimate Limited Edition 32bit
2gb DDR400
2.3ghz AMD Athlon x64 ( Can OC to 2.5ghz+) Fairly fast...
Nvidia Geforce 7900GS (Drivers from August 2009)
Go to Steam, right click on a Source game, and choose "Properties". Choose "Advanced Options":

Then put "-windowed -noborder" for the option box, and start the game. Go to Options > Video and set the resolution to the one your monitor uses. This simulates Fullscreen while allowing you to Alt + Tab out without that horrible lag. Warning though: You can't adjust brightness while in Windowed Mode.
I use this setup at every computer I play Source games at, even my friends'. I love it.

Cool! Nice setup, I will even try that with half-life 1 because you gain 17fps in windowed

Its locked at 60fps.... but if you run it under windowed you get 71FPS..... And my specs are listed on the first post... You obviously don't know what a computer is...

So is it 17 extra fps or 11?

I counted 17... sometimes it spikes to 76
Got a reason for why I sometimes lag from the normal 70-80 to 400+ in every game that I play online with steam friends on?
How are you getting 200 FPS at that setup?
EDIT: I realized pretty much after I posted that he probably runs it on a low resolution at a low graphics level, probably using scripts to make it lower than normal.

Take vsync off if you're an FPS-whore.
I'd still set max FPS to 100 because the human eye doesn't essentially give a shit after 60FPS.
I run at everything high w/ very high texture quality and 1440x900 , but it helps because my CPU is at a constant 10 Celcius... I have my computer jammed with water cooling ;D
All that to run Half-Life 1 at 71 fps.
