• LAN Game with 1 account

I was really looking forward to the new update since I heard it had a LAn feature. I'm really annoyed to discover that for it to work you need 2 separate accounts. I've tried having one in offline mode but it still times out. I dont imagine the fact that one computer is Windows and the other Mac would cause any problems. If anyone has a way of fixing this, or is willing to lend me their Login details. (Purely for Lan use.) I was just really looking forward to playing with my friend, he really enjoys it but lacks a computer to play it. Thanks, James. [B]UPDATE[/B] I've managed to get it working using the server app, but not with the in-game LAN option. I can only get it to work if I run the server on the Mac. Seen as the computer are nowhere near eachother im setting up Mumble. Thanks for the help guys!

Care to explain a little? [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] About the "Custom Launcher"
[QUOTE=Wickerman123;37106959]Care to explain a little? [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] About the "Custom Launcher"[/QUOTE] Well, it's not exactly legal. You'll have to find it yourself. ALTHOUGH I WOULD NOT ADVISE THIS. *cough*
Oh this sounds like a lot of bother, a friend was going to give me his but he can't remember passwords for shit and always has everything to remember them for him. I'll just get it off another friend, I did buy it for him after all - I'm sure he still owes me the money..
Nah, these days the standard policy is pretty much "one game copy per player". It's just the way the industry works these days. Ah, the good old days of spawn installation.

I havent gotten into 1.3.1 yet but cant you invite friends to your single player world now? Idk y u need a solo lan game wouldnt sp just be the same thing
When you go into single player it creates a small server in your local network, in the pause menu theres a button that opens it up so that anyone on your network can join trough that, so it's single player, but multiplayer. If you get me.
ya i know, thats why i dont understand your problem to begin with. you are already hosting a game,
I don't have another account to login with.. Read the thread.
Use my account, give me a pm. This is probably foolish but im feeling generous..
You shouldn't need to have two accounts. Have the real account login once on both computers, logout. Login to the false account with a fake password, hit offline mode and it should work. Offline mode should be set in the LAN server configuration.
I tried that and it didn't work, I managed to get my friends login details, once I've had my breakfast il try it out.
[QUOTE=Wickerman123;37106959]Care to explain a little? [editline]6th August 2012[/editline] About the "Custom Launcher"[/QUOTE] Just search around on the internet for a bit and you will probably find one, this is a good way of getting a cracked minecraft client but it's not really legal.
Yeah I'd rather not go down that route knowing that I can easily sort it out legally. I hate having to do things that way.
Download Minecraft on your two computers using your account, then download the dedicated server. Start the dedicated server in offline mode. On each computer, create a batch (.bat) file with [code] java -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -cp "%CD%\.minecraft\bin\*" -Djava.library.path="%CD%\.minecraft\bin\natives" net.minecraft.client.Minecraft **YOUR NAME** [/code] inside it (replace **YOUR NAME** with the name you want the player to have on this computer). Start this batch file, it should start Minecraft and bypass the login, but still change your name (of course you will not be able to play online this way). I used that during the 1.7.3 and it worked back then, I don't know if it still works however.
Uh I guess up have a look at that. I've got the 2 accounts and it still won't work. The mac can detect a LAN game on the pc but NOT vice versa, It appears the problem lies in the pc (windows) I've turned off comodo firewall and the default windows firewall isn't even installed correctly. Any ideas?

Re-downloading everything to see if that works, if not I guess my only option is running an external server. I always see the name Hamachi crop up so I guess il try that after the Minecraft Server app you can get off the website. Man I thought this shit was going to be easy. I never remember having this problem with Unreal Tournament and Empire Earth II. Ah the good ol' days. [editline]7th August 2012[/editline] im running the server, I can connect to it on the computer im running it on, but the Mac cant connect, it keeps timing out, the network monitor shows its connecting to this computers IP address but nothing is happening. I changed the *Online_mode* to false. I don't want any connection to the internet as Im on limited bandwidth, I want to keep this purely on my Local network, no outgoing connections. [editline]7th August 2012[/editline] and on this computer my firewall is showing a connection coming in from the Mac, it isn't blocking it but still no luck. WHAT. [editline]7th August 2012[/editline] It must be my fucking router (Airport Extreme) I would go into it's utility but for some reason that password is different from the actual password to connect to the wifi. I will have to wait for my dad to appear so I can go into it with him.
