I've decided to get a new laptop, but I am torn between getting a pc or a mac. I would prefer to use it for gaming predominantly (hence gaming section), which makes me lean towards a PC. However, I have heard that through various Mac programs (bootcamp, parallels etc...) most if not PC-based games can be ran on a mac. On the other hand, I still hear a lot of talk about how Mac's are awful and can't run any games. So facepunch, in a non-biased opinion, what would you recommend.
Get a pc.
Pc all the way.
PC
Laptops are the BOSS!!:madmax:
[sp]I want a PC. ._.[/sp]
PC.
PC. but still if you want gaming, get a Desktop PC.
PC. You can get a better PC for a lower price and it's not worth getting a laptop since you can't upgrade it.
Unless you plan on playing older games, get a Windows 7 laptop. That's probably the best for playing recent games and having files organized.
Why would you even consider a mac if you need a computer for gaming?

Contradiction in terms on an epic scale!
I'd still say a PC though - they're just so much cheaper for the same hardware.
Get a pc, why would you even think of getting a mac?
If I were wealthy I would get a Mac tbh. They are overpriced but I like their sturdiness. It would be running W7.

I thought Windows 7 was even more compatible with older games than Vista?
Mac + boot camp + windows = PC
PC + OSX = Hackintosh (assuming it installs)
Get whichever you will use more (probably PC because it is for gaming)
Actually you shouldn't get a mac for any reason.
He said unbiased.

Getting a Mac for ANY reason would be foolish. I.e. if you get a Mac, you are a dumb idiot. Everything a Mac can do - The PC can 10 times better. And Macs cost 2000$ have a shitty OS and have the specs of a 500$ PC. Don't get fooled by the faggot-shit that says that the Mac is better for casual shit. It isn't.
Short answer:
GET A FUCKING PC.
Mac's are a fad, nothing more.
PC are practical and actually function well, get a PC it's cheaper better and sexier and pudding.
Pee See
I recently put in 2 more gigs of RAM into my PC, which means I'm at 4 gigs.
Smooth sailing. :smug:
'get a mac to put windows on it.'
Makes no fucking sense
there are plenty of laptops that are excellent for gaming, such as mine which is a year old, that can run crysis on pretty much very high with some dx10 levels, and get a stable 25-40 fps. It cost around $1249 for a 9800m gts 512, 2.26 ghz which is a bit lame but it still works well, 4 gigs of ram and 300 somethin gbs for hard drive..
Only problem you might find in most gaming laptops is over heating, causing the laptop to lockup and force you to restart.. usually doesn't over heat for me when the ac is on though :v:
But now there are laptops that are around $2400 for like 280m gtx's sli'ed, with 6 gigs of ram, and quad processors.. think it was that Sager notebook one.. i'm not sure i'll get a link

http://www.sagernotebook.com/category_browse.php?cid=&lcdsize=18 ah yes, but it's at 18 inches big.. just consider it a portable pc. :v:
Nothing wrong with mac hardware. It's overpriced, but It's well built. I would never buy one unless I had a disposable income.

It makes more sense than buying a PC and Hackintoshing it.
Why did you even ask that question? I custom build my PC for like $500 and it runs most recent games at Very High with little to no lag. Macs would cost you thousands, and you'd get lag anyway. And if you're going to end up installing Windows anyway, then just get a PC! O_o
Get a PC, definitely. Also, check the specs of it carefully, cos I didn't and I bought an Acer Aspire 5315, which is depressing.

I've been using laptop for gaming for a past year or so.
I've come to an conclusion, that the best is having a gaming rig and a laptop, cause gaming laptop is just huge and heavy.
Don't know about the latest ones tough.
Also, it fucking sucks that the laptop slows down just because it gets too hot.
facepunch isn't unbiased, ever. here's what to do: go to a mac forum, get REAL oppinions and facts beyond the "PC GET VAIROUSES!" and repeat the same for pc beyond the "MAC IS WEIRED!" and "MAC SUCKS BECAUSE IT CAN'T RUN WINDOWS SHIT"
but don't ever go here with serious stiff, we can't handle it.

No, you can't handle the truth. Macs are expensive and any PC can do what a Mac can do.
