both me and my friend have been having oodles of problems playing tf2
first it was the whole "hl2.exe has stopped working" bullshit. we defragged many times, we re installed, and it worked! for about one day
the next day it started doing it again. we defragged, verified integrity of game cache, but it still diddnt work.
so we reinstalled, and this time got "setupfile 'gameinfo.txt' doesn't exist in the subdirectory 'hl2' check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting"
so i shared my WORKING gameinfo.txt from the team fortress 2 file with him and he replaced his with it and got "could not load library client"
so after tinkering with it more, (re-installing, verifying integrity of game cache, installing SOURCE SDK, changing settings, etc) we are BACK TO HL2.EXE HAS STOPPED WORKING
we reach the loading screen after the valve logo flashes, and it stops responding, and then gives the error "hl2.exe has stopped working".
please help facepunch, your our last hope.

I don't think googleing steam related problems will ever help you. Not in any of my experiences anyways.
First, learn to type properly. Second, check what's the cause of the crash - click more options or whatever the hell it's called at the bottom of the "hl2.exe stopped working" window.
Because you've apparently tried everything suggest by google.
Delete your TF2 folder in steamapps/steamname/
in steam remove local content.
Download TF2 again.
