Hello, Just wondering does anyone know whether Counter strike is going to be updated soon? because source is becoming really shit (My opinion) compared to the upcoming FPS COD, BF:BC2 ETC.
CS was always shit. (User was banned for this post ("trolling" - Jaanus))
It won't
I doubt it. Maybe after EP3 comes out (and honestly only if they ditch the Source engine after that). And that looks really bleak.
:( Guess i best invest into some new FPS Games any looking good for general multiplayer and wars?

Already have cod 4, WAW and pre ordered mw2 thought i wondered if there was some others
It is not becoming shit. It rocks still the same. Only you are becoming rotten spoiled by COD. This is what many people don't get - software doesn't degrade. It depends only on user how it seems to him.
CS was always shit.
No it wasn't. It was one of the most played PC FPS's for long time.
I find it fun. Just don't join a lame server and it provides great times, for me at least.
Yeah you better stop playing a game you like because it's based on a somewhat outdated engine.
Personally, I play games as long as I find them fun. I would pick Dune2 over Far Cry 2, because it's just more entertaining.
Valve has said numerous times that they have already began working on a sequel to CSS and will be out sometime in early 2011.
However, if I had to choose between TF2 and CS, TF2 clearly wins. The same applies for DotA and HoN
Source engine sucks. 'Nuff said. it does get over it
Source engine sucks. 'Nuff said.
Ill-informed...
What's the point of your post?
It was supposed to be merged with the previous one, to point out that I don't prefer all old games over the new ones.
It would Be Counter Strike 2, not CSS2
CS:S is not fun at all anymore. Same maps, same choke points, same weapons...it's just lost its luster.
Didn't Gabe say on Twitter that they were going to make CS2 on the L4D engine so the Bot's worked properly with the AI director?

But I love the 64 player free for all deathmatches in a level meant for only 8 people. Don't hate on it guys.
I don't think it needs a sequel.
Tactical Intervention is CS2.
Valve has said numerous times that they have already began working on a sequel to CSS and will be out sometime in early 2011.
They never said that. Not once.

But things never really got off the ground, the project ended up being put on the shelf, and Counter-Strike 2 died there."
They said they will never stop support for Counter-Strike since it's one of their best selling games. Chances are it will be updated in the future.
CS:S is a mediocre game with a terrible community
If Counter-strike came out with a new game, I can see the graphics being similar to this (animations and everything included):
