• Australian Video Game prices - Fucking Suck

A lot of you American gamers are complaining about how $60 for a game is expensive. Stop complaining. Our new games are usually upwards of $100 AUD. Now, according to our government, our economy is the best during the GFC, and our dollar value has increased. So you get games for pretty much half price as us. http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi?Amount=60&From=USD&To=AUD&image.x=61&image.y=15&image=Submit Seriously. The fuck.
Yes, we know. Thank you for your contribution.
should I feel sorry for you?
should I feel sorry for you?
Maybe :saddowns:
It costs about 107 USD for a game here in Norway.
Then go get some games from America, our dollar is p. high now.
Ok I should probably change thread title to "Everywhere except america's video game prices suck. [editline]09:59AM[/editline]
Then go get some games from America, our dollar is p. high now.
Unfortunately your region code is NTSC, won't work on majority of Australian systems.
ITT: Australian's suffering. American's acting their stereotype.
That's why I use steam when I can, games that are $70-$100 in stores around Australia are around $20-$50 on steam.
They are pretty expensive in sweden too but that's why you buy it a year after the release :)
Read the thread title in the Aussie accent, sounds so awesome.
A lot of you American gamers are complaining about how $60 for a game is expensive. Stop complaining. No offense, but arguements like that one above is just bullshit.
So are posts like that.
Hey, I'm not calling him out in a bad way. I too think it's fucking rediculous that they're cranking the price up for everything we pay for, and that they're getting away with it by just ignoring us long enough.

I do hate how we ( Australians ) pay $100, sometimes $100+ on games.
Buy from oversea's sites like, http://www.cdwow.com.au/ http://365games.co.uk/ I rarely ever buy games from EB or Game, because they're complete rip off's. JB's alright because they do discount their games, I got 'The Witcher Collector's Edition' for $15 from them. But really, buy online.
-snip- I get it now.
Yeah I buy everything from Steam or online now. I loved it when CoD4 was like $42 USD or something on Steam for the first few weeks. Everyone flipped out and Steam had to bump it up to $88 because they were undercutting all the business in Australia by a ridiculous amount.
ITT: Australian's suffering. American's acting their stereotype.
americans are badass because they dont give afuuuuuuuuuuuu [editline]10:56AM[/editline] i think the price is so high in aussie land because it costs more to make disks, or everyone is too stupid to do anything about it/ is failing at doing anything about it.
In Denmark, console games cost up to 119 AUD.
I don't understand how EB or GAME have any business, anyone who doesn't buy their games online obviously buys them from JB-HI FI because they're $20-$30 dollars cheaper. It sucks to be a gamer in anywhere cept America. Then again it sucks to be American /giggle
In Denmark, console games cost up to 119 AUD.
Same here. 70 euros or more for a new game, so fucking ridiculous. Glad there's (still) a possibility to buy used games, and importing is also an option.
Video Game industry needs it's own Trent Reznor.
You pay just 1.85 euro more than most Eurofolks
Steam is the shiz in Australia. With the US dollar so shit you can basically pay the amount in USD in AUD. Just bought Borderlands off steam for $44.99USD which is about $49AUD. Almost half the price of what I would have paid for a boxed copy.
I agree with title, Steam makes alot of money from me. That or I wait till they are cheap, but that sucks
Ok I should probably change thread title to "Everywhere except america's video game prices suck.
UK is doing okay: $100 AUD? That's roughly £58-£60. Holy shit. Depending on the perceived popularity of the title, we pay around £35-£40 for console games and £20-£35 for PC games. Wow you are getting ripped off.
My grandparents live in australia. I live in the UK. I do belive this is extortionate. Insert an advice dog here saying "Move to england, Get more for your money!" Still i'd rather live in australia right now that in england. I went there once. Much nicer.
ITT: Australian's suffering. American's acting their stereotype.
ITT: Ignorant kid makes blanket statement. Nothing can be done.
average aussie salary is more than that of usa's, so yes it's more expensive if you do a straight conversion, but is it really more expensive? genuine question.
