Ok you all should know hammer editor app, well when you make maps your save as a vtf and convert to a BSP so when you want to open you VTF map up you have to load it all then edit, but i just want to double click the vtf and it loads so if you know you location for this app please tell me .....e......g.....
Steam/SteamApp/<Usename>/Enyoing Hammer/Applecation.app.....
VTF = Valve texture file
VMF = Valve map file
So it's .VMF you safe as, not VTF.
And, you just save your maps in the map folder or something.

I don't think you can just double click the .VMF and Hammer opens up. I'm pretty sure you have to start hammer through Steam.

First make sure Source SDK is running then right-click on the VMF file and select Open With. Click the Browse button and follow this path "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\yourusername\sourcesdk\bin\orangebox\bin" (or use 'ep1' instead of 'orangebox' if you are using the ep1 engine). Look for hammer in this folder and select it. Hammer should now be the recommended application to open up VMF files so all you need to do is double-click files to open them. This will open a new hammer window every time you open a file with this method, if you want to load maps in the same window you will have to open them through hammer.
