I'm sure we've all at leas HEARD of this series before. If not, oh boy you're in for a treat. In a nutshell, the Jak And Daxter series is a 3D Platforming series on the PS2, and also features some classics such as collectibles, vehicle (gets more involved in the later games), and gun play starting in Jak II. Onto the games Jak And Daxter: The Precursor Legacy In this game, you take the role as Jak (technically Jak and Daxter, but you never play as Daxter, he just sits on your shoulder through the whole game). Jak and Daxter have taken a boat to misty island, the place Samos the sage told them not to go. They overhear a man and woman talking, and fall back, getting into a confrontation with a lurker (main baddy of the game). Daxter is hit from recoil from Jak, and is thrown into a pool of dark eco. He comes out as an Ottsel (fictional hybrid of a weasel and otter). The two go back to Sandover village (their home), and are told that Gol, a sage who has studied dark ego, can turn Daxter back. They then leave on their journey. Jak II This is where shit gets real. After finding a rift ring in the end of the last game, Jak, Daxter, Keira (Samos' daughter) and Samos are sent into the future. Jak and Daxter had been separated from Samos and Keira, and Jak is taken prisoner. Daxter sets off on a journey to find Jak, which has been made into a game called "Daxter" on the PSP by a separate company (I've never played it, so I wont be covering it in this thread. Someone else is free to though and I can put it in the OP). After 2 years of dark eco torture, The Baron of the city wants Jak dead by night. Jak is left strapped to his chair, and Daxter finally arrives! Jak talks for the first time (silent protagonist in the first game), and turns into "Dark Jak", which came about because of his torture from Dark eco from the past 2 years. The two meet new friends, find Keira and Samos, and learn about the new main baddies, the Metal Heads. This game is significantly much different from the first. Swear words, guns, a grim world, a terrible city leader. Vehicle play is much more involved in this game. The original only had a few segments of it, and in this game it will be your main life saver for going across the city. You can steal the vehicles from the citizens! Really great transition from a rated E platformer to a story-driven platformer with added gunplay and vehicles. Jak 3: Uploaded with ImageShack.us The game starts with Jak being banished from the city for his crimes (which I'm not going to spoil). He is left to die in the desert, but is found by Damas, a leader of a desert town. Jak was prove himself to the people of the desert, get back to the city and help the fight, and save the planet (explained in the game, not going to spoil). Not much to say, well, there is but I don't wanna spoil too much, and it's 3:08 AM right now and I have school at 8:00, so yeah... Other games: Jak X: Combat Racing Daxter Jak And Daxter: The Lost Frontier Jak X was decent as a racing game, Daxter I've heard it good but I've never played, and JAK:TLF was shit. Overall, these 3 games I covered are the Jak series, and the other 3 I don't consider canjon (Daxter, maybe). Sorry if this seems very lacking. I wanted a thread which briefly explained this games, and for discussion as well. Sometime in the future, I hope to go back and re-edit the bios so they are more informative and well-written. You guys are free to discuss the games, the future of them, and you can write bios for the 3 other games or re-write my bios and I will add them to the OP! :) Jak And Daxter, for life!
Jak and Daxter was never quite as good as Ratchet and Clank. I remember the first one becoming mind-numbingly difficult towards the end.
Fuck yeah. I love these games, as well as Rachet&Clank. God damn I miss these... need to dig up the old PS and PS2 when I have the time and play a shitload of games through.... These'll be on the top of PS2 games...
Ratchet and Clank was much better in my opinion. It's kind of like Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, I always enjoyed Spyro much more. :v: The only J&D game I have is the 3rd one, and it crashes whenever I reach a certain point, so I didn't get very far in the game. :saddowns:
Those guard's always annoyed me
fucking boss games, sadly the other games after jak 3 didn't feel as good

As far as Ratchet And Clank being better, that is true, but for PS2 story Jak wins. RAC kind of has an unfair advantage with the PS3s awesome RAC graphics and better story than the PS2 games, but I yeah, RAC is better. Jak And Daxter will always have a special place in my heart .
They never actually went to the future in Jak II it was an alternate universe where past and and future combined.
They never actually went to the future in Jak II it was an alternate universe where past and and future combined.
Where was this explained at? As far as I know it's the future.
They never actually went to the future in Jak II it was an alternate universe where past and and future combined.
Uh no.
I wish they made a 4th J&D for the PS3, a shame the only sequel they made was that damn PSP game that hardly anybody bought.
I loved this game. Wonder why they don't make these kinds of games now. (like rayman, etc) :saddowns:
This first game is an absolute MASTERPIECE.
"Daxter" (the psp game) was really good, too. The ending is kind of hard to believe, given that daxter never talks about anything after he finds Jak (mere seconds after defeating a huge fucking insect thing) Also Jak and Daxter is cool because it didn't have a single loading screen. Fable and other new games should have that.
I had Daxter for the PSP a loooong time ago. I think the plot was that Daxter took up work from an exterminator and after doing some missions he saw Jak in a prison vehicle and remembers that he needs to save Jak.
Oh, this game, i loved it, far more than any games, even Minecraft, Garry's or Half-life 1-2, i loved the games, i even managed to crack that symbol language..
The 1st Jak and Daxter was the best one, I think guns and that stuff kinda ruined the game
The 1st Jak and Dexter was the best one, I think guns and that stuff kinda ruined the game
Couldn't agree more.
This a good series. 1st is best IMO. Never completed 2nd though. 3rd was just a good sequel, but it didn't kind of have that touch first 2 had.
Never stopped playing these back in the day. It was when i first realised how awesome Naughty Dog are. Then they made Uncharted Hnnnnnnhhhgggggg....
This and Ratchet were the only games I really played a lot, including the old Tony Hawk games. It's a shame to see the Jak series go down the shitter. I'd love to see Naughty Dog continue with the series after Uncharted. Unfortunately, I don't own a PS3 so I have to simply resort to watching videos. I played all 3, I loved them so much. I even got all 100 of the Power Cores for the First one, only to be greeted by a shitty cutscene. Oh well, it was fun. :buddy:
Jak 3 was the shit.

It was kind of sad in my opinion how the eggs were changed to rares instead of normal stuff in the sequels :(
It was kind of sad in my opinion how the eggs were changed to rares instead of normal stuff in the sequels :(
I think they wouldn't fit in, taking that sequels took place in future. Probably most were collected by other people. But thats my theory.
There are 101 power cells.
Oh well, it was many, many years ago.
Never stopped playing these back in the day. It was when i first realised how awesome Naughty Dog are. Which reminds me that I have to make a Crash and Spyro Megathread some time later...
Yeah, in fact looking at it, i think i must be a ND fanboy. Favourite PS1 game series - Crash bandicoot Favourite PS2 game series - Jak & Daxter Favourite PS3 game series - Uncharted
The only Jak and Daxter game I've ever played was the Daxter spin-off for the PSP. I need to get ahold of the other ones, but I don't have a PS2 anymore.
