original: http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=832081
SPOILER TAG YO SHIT IF IT IS A SPOILER! There's a game called Borderlands SHITTY NEW BOX ART ASKED TO PUT HERE BY AN ASSHOLE: Borderlands is a Sci-Fi shooter FPS with RPG elements which takes place on a planet called Pandora. Game also features co-op and a lot of guns. Plot: This planet, Pandora was colonized by humans, who were drawn in by seemingly great amounts of mineral resources. The colonists soon find out that the planet's resources weren't as vast as told, but instead they discover alien ruins filled with alien technology. Colonists also discover that there are still some primitive hostile alien life forms on the planet. So, the rich folk escape the horrors of the planet, but the rest remain on the planet. Some colonists seek fortune by hunting alien technology, but most are just struggling for their lives. Pandora: "Pandora is the planet on which Borderlands takes place. It is a barren, desolate world filled with dangerous creatures. Pandora has a 60-hour day and takes ten earth years to orbit its sun. Pandora was first settled by humans during its winter season, when much of its wildlife was hibernating. After seven earth years, however, its climate is heating up as the summer season draws near. This has resulted in the native wildlife waking from their hibernations, most of which are hostile to Pandora's new human visitors" Characters: There are 4 characters in the game. Each has their own skills, backstories and unique abilities. The characters can be leveled up and their stats raised, such as health totals, ammo capacity, and accuracy. Each character also has three unique focus skill trees to develop. Mordecai Sniper and pistols guy. Has a "Bloodwing", which is a bird he can use as an organic boomerang. It deals tons of damage and has 28 second cooldown by default. "Mordecai came to Pandora in search of a man from his past named Yujinny. Upon learning that Yujinny has died, Mordecai sets off to learn how he died and what he was carrying." Lilith She's a stealthy-quick-shoot-fast kind of character. She has a skill called phase walk, it's pretty much invisibility, except it kills or stuns people when he comes out of it. "Once human, Lilith was turned into one of only six Sirens, a group of people with unbelievable powers who have been touched by alien technology. She comes to Pandora in search of another Siren, in an effort to find out more about herself." Brick He's a strong dude, uses heavy weapons. As his special ability, he can go berserk and fuck shit up with his fists. (No back story for him) Roland Soldier guy. Supports group with ammo and health, is skilled with all weapons. Can deploy a turret. "Roland is a former soldier of the Crimson Lance, a sort of highly trained private military that disregards law and order. A decade-old vendetta is rekindled when Roland learns that the leader of the Brigadiers has a suspiciously similar name to a man he has sworn to kill." Weapons: Borderlands uses massive load of weapons as one of its marketing gimmicks. Borderlands uses a procedural process to generate its various guns in certain classes, such as handguns, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, etc., but with many variations of firing speed, reload speed, damage type and more. Devs have said that there are more than 17,500,000 different weapons. The differences aren't that big usually, they can be stuff like a slightly longer barrel and so on. These weapon types have been confirmed. Revolvers Pistols Machine Pistols Sub-machine Guns Shotguns Assault Rifles Machine Guns Sniper Rifles Rocket Launchers Alien Weaponry has been confirmed too, but the only picture of an alien weapon I've found is this: Tagged for spoilers View Image http://dl.maximumpc.com/galleries/borderlands/4_blands_full.jpg I'm pretty sure it's alien weaponry. Some weapons have elemental effects. Blue means lightning, yellow means incendiary, green acid. There's probably more I can't remember or I haven't seen. Try not to argue about the amount of weapons. It's pretty clear that all of the weapons are not that different. I'm sure everyone can agree that even 300 somewhat different weapons is enough for an FPS. Vehicles: Only 2 vehicles. A buggy and a copy that can be used if the other is spawned. Only 2 vehicles aloud on the map and they only have 2 seats. The Vehicles can have 8 diffrent colors and a Rocket launcher or a machine gun. Co-op: Borderlands has 4 player co-op, jump-in-jump-out style. Players are free to trade stuff with each other. The amount of weapons and this feature is insta-win. Enemies: There are many different enemy types in Borderlands. There are bandits and the mutants in the noob areas, Crimson Lance in the higher areas and finally aliens. There are also native creatures, such as skags which are like dogs from hell. Graphical style: Borderlands moved from a gritty, realistic kind of graphic style to a more artistic one. Here's an explanation for that: Some stuff you can watch and read: Screenshots: http://www.borderlandsthegame.com/media Teaser: View YouTUBE video http://youtube.com/watch?v=NoRboFDp4GA Trailer provided by Firgof Umbra: View YouTUBE video http://youtube.com/watch?v=dOPbx2WPPN0 E3 2008 gameplay (old graphic style): View YouTUBE video http://youtube.com/watch?v=m1RsoJvBap8 (This guy covers the game mechanics pretty good, watch this one if you wanna know more about the game) http://gbxforums.gearboxsoftware.com...ad.php?t=72948 Use that thread as your source of videos. http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Borderlands_Wiki http://www.borderlandsthegame.com Borderlands is coming out in October, for Xbox 360, PS3 and of course the good ol' PC. (Don't pirate it you pricks) Note: There isn't much info out, but I'm trying to make as mega of this thread as I can. I'll update it whenever I have more time (and info). That's a weak op. At least copy and paste the information. Better at least, just don't make it in that annoying blue quote and your golden.

Desperate troll.
I need my fix man
Thread derailed, let's re-rail it. So, how often do you find "legendary" weapons on this game?
I just got the PC version today, and it's installing. I would have bought the Steam version, but I reserved the game at a store before I realized it would be on Steam. But I've played it a bit on my friend's PS3... Enough to get a character up to about level 21. Never found a "legendary" weapon, I don't think. I have a question though: What is good about Lilith's phasewalk? It seems like it isn't good for anything but running away from enemies, and doing light damage to them upon initiating or ending the phasewalk. Is there something to it that I'm missing? Some more effective way to damage people while using the skill?

In the beginning it's quite useless but later on in the game it's can be useful. For example I got this level 2 explosive artifact. It makes an exploding wave when entering phasewalk. Plus I have level 4 on Radiance which deals shock damage when I enter/exit phasewalk as well. One skill that I haven't put any point on yet is Dramatic Entrance which Dazes (slows them down and their accuracy goes fuck all) enemies upon entering phasewalk. It's extremely helpful when you are encountering many small hard enemies.
This is a great game. Fire guns are the best.
This is a great game. Fire guns are the best.
I have this SMG which kills Krags in no time. Fire against Krags is an absolute.
Oh, also I've seen fire guns, shock guns, and blast guns... But I don't think I've ever seen a corrosive gun, though the game makes mention of them. What does the symbol for corrosive powers look like? And what do the "x1" and "x2" and "x3" etc. symbols over the elemental power mean? The likelihood that the elemental effect will trigger?

What's the recommended level to face Sledge?
And what do the "x1" and "x2" and "x3" etc. symbols over the elemental power mean? The likelihood that the elemental effect will trigger?
It's either the likelihood or it's the effect times 1, 2 or 3. But I'm pretty sure the likelihood is displayed in text in the description for the weapon. [editline]10:53PM[/editline]
What's the recommended level to face Sledge?
His level is [sp]18[/sp] but I went there when I was about at level 16 I think with my brother and we cleared him out rather quickly. It all comes up to what gear you have most of the time.
Does anyone know what all of the specialties of the different brands of equipment mean? I've seen loading screens indicate that they mean increased clip sizes and other such things... But there are lots of brands out there... I can't keep track of them all
3 days and 3 hours left. I hope you US guys are enjoying it.
:buddy:
Anyone else find the shotgun that does 500 damage x 9, but it has 0 accuracy. Shit's hilarious to use.
Is anyone else getting a "This game is currently unavailable." message when you try launching it from Steam?
Anyone else find the shotgun that does 500 damage x 9, but it has 0 accuracy.
