The International is back this year and this time we won't have to stay up until 4 in the morning to watch it! The one million dollar tournament is being held in Seattle this year right near Valve HQ and it is bringing 16 of the best Dota 2 teams from all around the world. Since Dota 2 has been out in public beta status for almost a year now we've had a lot of tournaments run by various outlets that have shown off a ton of teams and, along with the very fun Wild Card qualifiers back in June, out of those tournaments the best have been picked by Valve to show up this year. I would say this years team lineup blows last years out of the water. It's going to be awesome.

Nice OP and title.
I hope it's going to be more EPIC than SKILL.
Why couldn't they have skipped M5 and gotten a team people actually like and are decent at the game like Potm Bottom or Mouz.

They were preselected months ago, I'd say they're the worst team in TI2
M5 has taken at least third in all their tournaments.
Ah yes, finally a thread for the International.
I can't wait. I have a ticket and I'm going to TI2 + PAX. Going to alternate between the two events and catch up on games through DOTA TV. Should be fun to go and see all the teams playing and meet other players. I don't think I've met a single DOTA 2 player in real life other than people I've tried to get into the game and it should be interesting to meet some other DOTA 2 players.

You sonofabitch. Do you live in Washington?
You sonofabitch. Do you live in Washington?
No but I live on the West Coast. Flying to Seattle next Thursday.
Seattle 50 minutes away from me I might debate on this.
I wouldn't mind seeing this live. I live on the other side of the country though :v:
I'll be at college but I'm definitely going to watch these matches live whenever I can. Looks like they'll be great.
will be watching Dendi win again through that pretty neat Spectator Client

Apparently Na'Vi's bootcamp has not been going so well.

Personally, I think DK is going to be the team to blow everyone away this year.
can someone explain to me the electric boogaloo meme
There was a sequel to some movie and the byline was Electric Boogaloo. It was a pretty poor movie which nobody really wanted, so now the byline refers to poor, unnecessary sequels, in this case ironically.
Here, have some wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breakin'_2:_Electric_Boogaloo#Electric_Boogaloo
This is gonna be my first major e-sports tournament that I actually pay attention at. Not sure which team to root for, though.
Secretly, I just want to root for the team that's likely to get me the most items.

I'm super excited to see DK. I'm not sure how they will fit into the meta of dota 2 though. If they can't adapt it will be rough for them. But then again, they could pull out some hard carry strat with burning and rock the meta. If there is any player who can keep a hard carry farmed in this meta its burning. I think coL has a good chance as well though so we'll see. I'm so pumped for it
I got a CoL Pennant.

That means it can't be CoL versus Na'vi in the finals.
Fuck.
[editline]24th August 2012[/editline]
TBH it's pretty much guaranteed that DK will make the finals now. They are far and away the best team in Group A. Group B is a tossup.
I'm rooting for EG, because I love EG.
Prelim schedule is out! http://www.dota2.com/international/prelims/schedule/sunday/
Apparently someone from MUFC got caught smoking on their plane, and now they're stuck in Vancouver. If they don't get in before the 26th, then they're not going to be able to play and are probably going to be replaced by Mouz.
I really wonder what kind of person can give up their chance at winning a million dollar competition just for a quick smoke.
-snip, wrong thread-

It's all a conspiracy. Mouz hired someone to plant a lit cigarette on one of them.
It all makes sense now.

For the rumors out there, we would like to explain to all who are commenting and asking about it.
Firstly, about the visa issue. The team were unable to transit to Vancouver because they do not have a transit visa. The starting point of this issue was because we encountered some technical problem for our previous tickets. Thus we purchased new tickets with new routes for all of them. However, our team has been arranged to depart to Seattle via New York. The problem has fixed.
Second issue, rumors about Sharky. He lost his passport in Hong Kong and that's why he is going to be late for the tournament. Our management team is working with valve to do our best to send him to Seattle. However, the situation is still unforeseen.
We will update on Facebook about how the situation is progressing. Sorry for the troubles and we hope that the rumors could be ended.
-
With the situation for the MUFC team captain Sharky still unresolved, there is a possibility for the first choice standby team, mouseports (who themselves had complications with their plans), to take part in the competition. joinDOTA will update you with any developments in the situation.
